My Dream Draft Scenario What's Yours?
I would love to trade the 5th pick to Cleveland for their two first round picks. So than the Skins would have two high picks to address needs they couldn't address during FA. I don't know how a #5 pick typically compares in value to two picks in the mid and low first round but if the Browns were willing to trade I'd love to take it. Let's say they want Marriotta and he's available at #5 I'd offer them Griffin and the 5th pick for their mid and lower 1st round pick. From the Browns perspective they get Marriotta the stud mobile QB that Haslam hoped to get with Manziel and Griffin would provide insurance allowing them to double down on their mobile QB strategy at no real expense to the Skins in my view. With 3 of them able to run a read option style attack they could rotate them in case of injury, it might make sense for Cleveland and I believe it would be best for the Skins. Snyder could even save some face from his Griffin megabust scenario with this trade.
The Skins could have two first round picks to look for starters at positions they didn't address during the FA to help them bolster the the OL and defense during this cycle. I don't place any real value on Griffin running Jay's offense so giving him away is from my perspective a plus and he could serve to reinforce Cleveland's strategy if they want to draft Marriotta. So the Browns get value in Griffin whereas I think Griffin is a drain on the Skins and the Skins get to improve the team faster with 2 first round picks. They could than compete McCoy and Cousins and see who is better behind an improved OL and defensive team backing them up. Cousins MAY have a higher ceiling but McCoy didn't get enough games last year to define himself in my view. Cousins has the interception eruption problem to fix I don't know about McCoy but they both seem to mentally process and decide fast enough for Jay's offense. This my draft day dream scenario what is yours?

I think they would do the trade without throwing in RGIII.

All I have to say is keep dreaming. You will NEVER see that happen. Teams do not have the luxury of carrying three 1st round picks at the QB position in this salary cap era.

Manziel doesn't make big money now and neither does Griffin nor would Marriotta in first couple of years so I don't think salary issues are relevant. Would they keep all three long term? I don't know but right now the Browns are stuck with Johnny Screwup who might not make it at all adding Marriotta to fulfill Haslam's dream of a mobile big play QB might be very appealing to them in the 5th round and sweetening the deal with Griffin who doesn't in my view fit Gruden's offense makes sense if it would help the Browns bite. Two first rounders at 16 and 22 or whatever the Browns' picks are make a lot more sense than getting 1 guy at number 5. I don't expect the Skins to be this lucky but it is nice to dream about.

If Marriotta is available, someone will overpay. That's the only scenario in which this happens. Winston will be gone at 1.

I think teams should be leery of drafting Winston that high after all his off the field incidents so I think Marriotta goes first. If you are right Winston is the first QB taken not Marriotta than I think Marriotta is the second quarterback taken. I think my scenario is highly unlikely. First, if the Browns are that keen on trading up for Marriotta I think the the deal gets done before the Skins draft pick is in play but trading #5 for the Browns 2 picks is my dream deal what is yours?

You can think whatever you want. Pretty much everyone agrees at this point that Tampa wants Winston. He's a better pro prospect right now in spite of his history of shoplifting crab legs.
The reason the Skins are a possibility for a Mariota trade is obvious. If the Titans don't want Mariota, the next likely team to draft him is the Jets at #6. Why would you overpay to trade up to #2 when you can pay less trading with the Skins at #5?

Bingo.
Although I'm thinking the Titans are going to nab Mariota.

Winston has had several other incidents while at Florida State including the disturbing allegations a young woman made that the prosecution decided not to pursue, an incident at a fast food place and a pellet gun issue at his apartment. He's been a loose cannon at FSU so I think prudent organizations are going to be leery of picking him in my opinion. There is always a chance a talented college QB will not thrive in the NFL there are more busts at QB than any other position why take a chance on Winston who is an off the field risk as well?
I hope you are right that the Skins have a chance to trade the right to draft Marriotta to the Browns but it seems an unlikely pipe dream.

Its a big reach for them if they do, and they like Mettenberger. I think they will go BPA and take Leonard Williams. That's the smart choice.

I know all of this, man, but I'm just telling you what the majority of people are reporting right now. Its almost a lock at this point that he's going to Tampa.
I think there's at least a 50/50 chance Mariota falls to #5. I actually think the "pipe dream" portion of all this is any team actually trading up to get Mariota from us, you know? Teams saw what happened with us and RGIII. I don't think many teams will be eager to make the same mistake. I wouldn't!

Re: My Dream Draft Scenario What's Yours?
Mariota is a different person than RG3 though. He us much more modest and eager to learn. If he drops to 5 we will get trade offers... itll be a matter of how bad Scot wants his BPA at that time vs what he thinks he can get from the trade offer.
Honestly my favorite scenario is the Browns and/or Eagles want Mariota... the Jets want him too so to move up 1 spot they give us like their 3rd rounder this year and 2nd rounder next year. We pick up 2 decent draft picks and STILL get whoever we woulda gotten if we had stayed at 5. Thats a win/win.

Either Winston or Marriota goes no.1. You just never know come draft day. I think its possible Marriota can go no.1 as well. You can't ignore Winston's off the field issues which could come into play. I will say Winston has everything you want from a Qb when he steps onto the field.

Don’t discount the Eagles if Mariota falls…question is if you’re the Redskins do you deal with a team in the division??

In this case, I think you do. This trade could hamstring the Smeagols for years to come, so it actually might be to our beneifit to make the deal.

I think I would too….but people have to be realistic…especially the Redskins! Nobody is giving what they did for RG. Rumors up here are that the Eagles are willing to move Foles and/or maybe McCoy. Not a big Foles fan but he could serve as the backup to RG (or serve as a place holder if RG fails) and free the team to trade Cousins. Would love to have McCoy at the right price…So maybe a deal like the Eagles #1 and a 2 or 3 (they have 2 # 4 picks) plus Foles or McCoy for the #5 pick??

Id say thats not worth it for us, Foles isnt much better of a temporary solution tgab rg or cousins, mccoy im not convinced would do better than alf, and they pick #20... for it to be worth trading with the eagles it would take an RG calibre deal. Unlikely but really depends on how much Mariotas old coach wants him... they are a QB away from being consistent contenders, and Chip Kelly knows exactly what he is getting.... if he sees Mariota as a solution to his problem, then id expect him to bet the farm on it.
Re: My Dream Draft Scenario What's Yours?
Foles and a # 3 or 4 pick you could get for Cousins is greater than Cousins. I would look at McCoy as a compliment to Morris not a replacment...great third down back...at the end of the day if the Skins could get 4 players (1 traded and 3 picks) I think you listen....What the Skins need now are young bodies...and many of them!!

I heard their 1 and 2 this year and next, so I would definitely jump at that.

If they're offering that they will move up to 2 or 3 I'm guessing....Can't see this happening but its only take one team to fall in Love...in this case rekindle the Love!!
From MMQB...
*5. PHILADELPHIA
Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
*Trade: Washington gets Philadelphia’s first- and second-round picks this year, and first- and fourth-round picks in 2016. Washington could be moving from five to 20 in the first round by doing this deal, with GM Scot McCloughan scoring points with his new boss for not giving away the store in a trade, but rather acquiring the store. This has so many poetic points to it. The Eagles gave Donovan McNabb to Washington a few Easters ago; now Washington would be giving a longer-term quarterback, theoretically, to Chip Kelly. Kelly would be reunited with the quarterback he recruited out of a Hawaii high school and helped make a star in college football. It just feels right, though Howie Roseman will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into giving up so much draft capital for a player with some question marks.

^^ That's what I saw. So not 2 next year, but 4 instead. Still would jump on that.

I think alot of teams would...that's why I don't see him falling to 5 if the Eagles offer anything near this.

I think you do trade with the Eagles if doing so really helps the Skins. An trade within the division may have a higher bar but right now the problem for the Skins is the Skins not the Eagles. The Skins need to develop a sound balance football team and if the Eagles are willing to throw some draft picks or players to the Skins to be able to draft Marriotta I say go for it.

I'm with you guys. I've read how we wouldn't trade that pick to the Eagles and allow them to potentially get their franchise QB, I'm just not remotely worried about that. We have a lot more pressing concerns than whether or not they draft Marcus Mariota.
