Garcon is pricey but the Colts didn't re-sign him manly because he had foot issues and now we are paying the price. Garcon is just a #2 WR if Shanny was smart ( i think he is washed up) he should of got Marshall even if it was a 3rd and 013 2nd you would than have a #1 WR and a #2 WR that are young and than now give RG3 his future weapons. Garcon will come back maybe as a inconsistent type of WR that is up- and down but we should of never got Morgan and been a bit more agressive on Mario Manningham or a guy like Randy Moss cheaper .

We made poor moves in FA.

I think this is dead on. It makes you wonder whether Garcon cares to get back onto the field as much as you'd like. It also makes it more understandable why Mike went to the media very early on and said the magic phrase "it's a matter of pain tolerance." Suggesting that Garcon needs to man up.

Again, I'm no doctor, but the recovery time for this surgery is 6-8 weeks. If he had it in preseason when he says he first injured it, then he'd be out there contributing.

Has anyone seen Brian Baldinger's finger?? Dude, surgery...get it.

Mike Shanahan's statement was made BEFORE the extent of the injury was actually known... While Garcon's "pain tolerance" may, indeed, be a factor, the fact is, this is a more significant injury than they thought...

Right. I don't blame Garcon or the coaches for not knowing the severity of the situation immediately. But the way it's been handled since then . . . not great, IMO. With the caveat that I'm not an insider and so don't know the whole story, all of the available evidence speaks badly of Garcon's decision making.

Same here. I'd love to see a similar post concerning the coaching staff/FO and how they/it will look in 2013, 2014, and beyond.

the WR's here have a great opportunity and they're not taking advantage of it

We talkin....anesthesia? anesthesia? We talkin bout anesthesia (ala Iverson about practice)

Dude.....anesthesia happens EVERY DAY in dental offices. Same thing Garcon, come ON NOW...!!!

Actually, I almost died from having a couple of wisdom teeth pulled. It can happen. I wasn't afraid then and I am still not, but it can happen. I woke up to 3 doctors bringing me back. They said I scared the hell out of them.

so what does that have to do with this?

IF Garcon has an injury and the medical guys recommend surgery and the player does not want to have surgery is one thing
basically the player does not want to go through what it takes to get back on the field ASAP

That is the player's choice - no worries

keeping a player who is not able to play is NOT A GOOD CALL by the coaches
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

I hear you JSPB - I'm just VERY disappointed in how this has been handled by BOTH the player and the team

one of my biggest concerns about Mike as HC has been that he's never been very good at communicating
- I can understand why some even think he's a liar

don't get me wrong - we are fortunate to have had him here but he is no Joe Gibbs as far as his rapport with the media and the fans

Sometimes when people are unconscious they have "experiences" which they really can't share ... wrong thread.

There is no such thing as minor surgery. MRSA has ended a number of player's careers... and, Kilmer and DS are both right... There is a reason that there are physicians who specialize in anesthesia...

Thanks Countertrey, DS and Darth were correct too. What I heard (rumor) was that the surgery might not fix it. Similar to Landry.

It is just unfortunate SJ. It's a freak thing. He may never recover or maybe surgery can fix it. You can't be afraid. It would be as freak as a plane crash.

Or he could totally tear the thing playing in these last 7 games, be forced to get the surgery now, and we'll see him for training camp next year. Not that I want that to happen. I'm just sayin'.

[quote="Irn-Bru"]I have a bad feeling about Garcon. He was about as good as we could have done this FA, but you have to wonder whether we'll end up regretting the acquisition.

The odds are definitely against Pierre because generally it's a career ending move to move to DC. You can count the number of FA on one hand who's career maintained or got better, certainly since the Little One took over.
