I see a team that disrespected their Super Star QB all off season by dragging out the contract talks to the point of absurdity, playing their backup QB for the majority of the preseason games. I see a great QB who had what ... 24 attempts in the preseason, and missing most of training camp, and still having a bad taste in his mouth about how the organization treated him after having the best season in history? The Saints are an emotionally patched up team that can only overcome that due to the superior talent of Brees ... but Brees ain't God, and he's not infallible. He can't catch passes or run the ball ... so this is far from a team that could be considered firing on all cylinders right out of the gate.

That's a problem.
... a new defensive coordinator
Massive plus. GW was awful in his last year.

He didn't miss any training camp. Not even a second. Its business everyone knows that. It has had no impact whatsoever. You're definitely reaching there.

Never a massive plus for a defense to change coordinators and systems, particularly in the environment facing the Saints off season. Greg Williams is an excellent defensive coach, but can't actually play himself. So there were weaknesses in the Saints defense, and those will likely be magnified.
Well the Saints won a Super Bowl in year one of a new defensive system. And Gregg Williams might be the most overrated coach ever. He didn't adjust, didn't teach, and made terrible game calls. I was never a fan, even in year one. And "the environment facing the saints" is completely overblown. Completely. Its been business as usual. Even beat writers like Larry Holder, who Sean Payton calls "NFL...Negative F'ing Larry", have said they've seen no difference whatsoever.
Suspended players YEP ... reinstated at the 11th hour will likely inject even more confusion as to who is activated and what roster moves might be made at the last minute after the week's practice is finished. ANOTHER distraction.
Sigh. Once again. No. There was only ONE Saints player suspended that is a starter and only TWO overall. Vilma would be on the PUP right now anyway...he's still hurt. And they replaced him with not one but two better players.
They are missing a decent DE that isn't really a sack artist. Not really a big deal.Being that I don't actually watch NO pre season games, I just looked at the stats and saw a LOT of Chase Daniel stats, and very little of Brees. In any case ... the "just business" was not Brees attitude before the contract got done. And no matter what people say after a testy contract dispute ... hard feelings don't just heal overnight. They may be pushed off to the side of one's mind .. but they are there for a while.
Brees never plays much in preseason. I would say it was par for the course. And there aren't hard feelings. He got the largest contract ever. He was WEARING SAINTS GEAR during the negotiations and his private workouts. It wasn't a big deal.Smirk wrote:If the Redskins win it won't be because of off the field distractions or Sean Payton or any other nonsense. The Redskin defense ... particularly the front 7 which was the strength of the team last year,
I see a very close game that could go either way, and might be decided by RG3's success in the red zone. You cannot beat the saints kicking field goals ... scoring TD's is a must.

the strength of the team......talk about overHYPED. ANYTHING THAT WAS AVERAGE OR MEDIOCRE would have been the "STRENGTH" of the redskins of 2011 or 2010 or 2009 or 2008 or 2006 or 2003 or 2002 or 2001 or 2000.
EVERY team in the redskins division last year had one guy who had more sacks (giants = tie) than that duo orakpo and kerrigan had COMBINED (which is a point about perspective. what might be great to you cuz their your heroes, is ordinary to others because they're better than you)
they can rotate in as many bodies as they want, the redskins secondary will be lit up like a christmas tree.

Now they will most likely be re-suspended next week.
So to recap, these players were suspended, but with a little less than 48-hours before game time they have been allowed to play the Redskins, and then they will be suspended again.
I'm sorry, but that is crap.

Buddy the whole NFC East was in the top 10 in sacks last year so while the skins might not have been the best they were still damn good however they are gonna need elite pass rush on Sunday to help the secondary especially the safeties.

I think Mara had something to do with it.

which is the point. those teams do have an elite pass rush where the redskins do not. they have good players at certain spots. orakpo is good. Kerrigan is good. neither are great. neither are game changers.
it's the difference between the haves and the have nots in the NFL. it's the difference between 6-10 and 10-6 teams. you need some great players. some game changers.
IMO the redskins don't have a single player that is. London Fletcher is still their best player and he's in his last year or two and we'll see if there's any drop off there. those two other guys mostly collect coverage sacks.
the best advise I can give is they should have an extra defensive back out there at all times, even in 2 wr sets, drop all 3 linebackers, line their safties deep down the field and double Graham.
force the saints to run which in turn forces them to play the game that the redskins have their only chance in.
