What we don't know is the conversation between Haz and D. Hall. Dez Bryant in the game - it is coming to him at that spot. Should D. Hall have been at that spot? What no one has said so far is how Dez Bryant got behind Hall who should have had a good sized cushion (they always have a good sized cushion anyway). Did Dez give a double move? Was Hall peeking in the backfield?
Dez was Hall's man. Hall did not make the play. If Hall is the player that he claims to be then at the very least, he should have been close enough to make a play on the ball - he was beaten on a play that he knew was coming.
D Coordinators call the play - whether we agree with the play or not, the players did not execute. No one beat their block. Maybe they got held and it was not called, but no one outright beat their block. Hall did not make the play. Whose fault it is it?
Players play the game - the call, though not what a lot of D coordinators would call was not something that had zero chance to work or 1 out of 10 chances to work. D. Hall covers his man on that play - most likely - game over period!
Conclusion - D. Hall is not the guy he claims to be (We knew that)
Should Haz have placed his confidence in his player? That is what a player lives for for his coach to trust his ability. Haz is clearly a player's coach. In the long run, that produces good results and we have seen an low talent D play above its ability.
Bottomline - NO ONE PLAY COST US THE GAME! Several plays showed that we have work to to do and some holes to fill (Didn't we know this going into the season?) It would be nice to be 3-0, but the Cards game showed us limitations as well. This team is a work in progress with most of us knowing that it needs another off season to place us among the elite teams.
DHall didn't get beat. No double move, no peaking in the back field. I don't care who was put there on that play Dez Bryant had the upper hand. He lined up so that he had plenty of cushion on either side, ran a go route, waited for DHall to establish position, and then ran to a ball thrown to that side.
The play was indefensible in a 9 man rush. Bryant didn't have to lose or beat Hall and Romo didn't have to make a perfect pass. Romo just had to avoid the rush for a short time and then throw the ball to the opposite side of where Hall was.
No CB to ever play the game makes that play.
Could Hall have had a little better coverage? Maybe. It still wouldn't have made any difference, because all Romo had to do was lead Bryant away from coverage.
It was just a game of pitch and catch.
No, that play didn't cost us the game, but it did cost us a shot at closing out the game. How about rushing 3 or 4 and letting the Cowgirls have to complete two passes for the first down instead of one.
I was just defending Hall for being hung out to dry by Hasslett!
I'm amazed at how many morons are blaming that play on Hall.
