But I feel we might be close to a similar 6-10 record as last year EVEN if I am convinced that this younger roster is more suitable for his offense and defense and it offers a much better future than the one we had last year.

And that is my true problem lies. The true difficult prediction to make is the following:

Will Daniel Snyder keep the current combo Allen/Shanny/Shanny IF we have NO IMPROVEMENT in the wins/losses columns?

Will he be PATIENT and stay the course?

or

Will he be guided by attendance and merchandise decline sales to make yet another big name change at the top?

I feel that the father-son Shanny combo is taking a big risk with Beck and Grossman this year. If the choice works, they will be regarded as geniuses BUT if they fail after betting their reputation on those two names, their future is rather uncertain.

I HATE uncertainty when a head coach is not given a chance to prove himself OR when he makes it easy for the owner to make another blunder.

I will be happy with improvement like many. Will the owner be satisfied with that too? That is the big question for me.

To your point no one can say what Snyder will do other then Snyder. But I personally don't think they are in danger at all for this year. If this year is say 4-12 then I think everything you're saying becomes a real concern next year.

I think that having a younger roster and 'rewarding' the players who practice and play the hardest and show the staff that they are giving their best effort will pay dividends here

we are remaking this franchise

And that is where my true problem lies. The true difficult prediction to make is the following:

Will Daniel Snyder keep the current combo Allen/Shanny/Shanny IF we have NO IMPROVEMENT in the wins/losses columns?

this is something to be concerned about down the raod

I feel that the father-son Shanny combo is taking a big risk with Beck and Grossman this year. If the choice works, they will be regarded as geniuses BUT if they fail after betting their reputation on those two names, their future is rather uncertain.

I think the fact that we 'improve' with these 2 QBs will mean that Mike & Bruce get to continue to remake things here

we are at worst 6-10 and at best 9-7 (with a LOT of luck = 10-6)

these guys only need to show they're on the right track and I'm fairly sure they can do that
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Nostradamus, would you care to comment? :)

A more sensible prediction can be made a week before the regular season, when we have had a chance to make better evaluations of our strengths and weaknesses.

Q: What was the secret of Nostradamus?

A: Better informed predictions!
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

No. The secret of Nostradamus (& others of his ilk) was being so vague that whatever happens, people can say they were right.

No. The secret of Nostradamus (& others of his ilk) was being so vague that whatever happens, people can say they were right.

So that's the secret. In that case, I predict the Redskins will be a better team this year. :)

AND, even more importantly, I predict that they will not only be undefeated in 2100 but that they eclipsed the record of the 1972 Dolphins by going undefeated to end the 2099 season before winning the Super Bowl in 2100

thus ending one millenium and begining another with back to back undefeated seasons

in related news .. Daniel Snyder's great, great granchildren were in negotiations to purchase the franchise back from the Haynesworth family in a bizarre attempt to rectify the family image :!:

Of course, the last year of the current century is 2100 and the first year of the next is 2101 while the last year of the current millenium is 3000 and the first year of the next is 3001. -drinking

A Team in the Middle

Post by DarthMonk »

Maybe someone can find a quote from Marty along these lines: There are 3 or 4 teams with more talent than anyone and they’ll make the playoffs. There are 3 or 4 teams with less talent than everyone else and they have no chance. Then there are around 24 teams in the middle. Of those, the ones that do the little things will get in.

I have felt like the ‘Skins have been one of the bottom feeders for a while. I feel like we are finally one of the teams in the middle and it also seems like we have a staff stressing the little things.

I’m not predicting playoffs but if we remain relatively healthy, minimize penalties, and protect the ball, we should be better than average.

LPJ, There's a guy on the phone that wants to speak with you - says his name is Shula and there's some guy in the background named Mercury that he is trying to quiet down.

9 or 10 wins, with the playoffs a distinct possibility. We'll be in the hunt at the end of the season.

I mentioned on another thread 10-6. So might as well make it official. 10-6 with a wild card birth.

Sep 11 NYG @ WAS -- LOSS (Offense not ready to compete)

Sep 18 ARI @ WAS -- WIN (O getting better, ARZ has to travel east)

Sep 26 WAS @ DAL -- LOSS (Monday night prime time, Our QBs are not ready)

Oct 02 WAS @ STL -- WIN (knock Sam B out of game, avenge last years loss)

Oct 16 PHI @ WAS -- LOSS (after a bye -- but no help)

Oct 23 WAS @ CAR -- WIN (Panthers suck)

Oct 30 WAS @ BUF --- WIN (Bills stink)

Nov 06 SF @ WAS -- WIN (new coach, new schemes, etc hard to deal with long travel east)

Nov 13 WAS @ MIA -- LOSS (no one will take me serious if I have us winning 4 in a row!!)

Nov 20 DAL @ WAS -- WIN (We finally get a NFC East win)

Nov 27 WAS @ SEA -- LOSS (tough to play after traveling all this way)

Dec 04 NYJ @ WAS -- LOSS (Jets are better than us)

Dec 11 NE @ WAS -- LOSS (Pats are better than us)

Dec 18 WAS @ NYG -- LOSS (we never win in the Meadowlands)

Dec 24 MIN @ WAS -- WIN (McNabb comes home, sorry bout that)

Jan 1 WAS @ PHI -- LOSS (Philly needs win for homefield advantage)

We end up 7-9 but 1-5 in the Division.

The four game losing streak is enough to keep us from 500.
