Nobody seems willing to SAY what needs to be said ... Shanahan's team is progressively getting worse in EVERY AREA.
Is it ALL 53 players .... or the 10 coaches?
Sure, you can point to specific mistakes by the coaches, but overall we just don't have very much talent. Just look at some of the players that we are running out there that are way past their prime (Holliday, Daniels, Sellers, Rabach etc.) or who have no real business playing meaningful NFL minutes (Heyer, Davis, Keiland Williams, etc.). If you look at this team unit by unit, there is not a single group that is impressive. The closest would be the defensive line but they aren't a good fit for this defensive scheme. It's is going to take 2-3 years (at the very least) to restock this roster, and that's assuming that out front is capable of that (which is a big if).
Tell me .... did the players select themselves? Did Devon Thomas need to be cut with Galloway and Roydell Williams on the roster? Should Heyer be a professional football player?
Do you realize that we are on pace to give up more sacks this year than last year? This with a more mobile QB and a supposedly upgraded o-line?
A defense that have been pretty consistently decent that turns around and becomes the worst example in team history, with the same core group?
It's so bad ... Devon Thomas comes back to haunt this tag team of Dumb, Dumber, Dumbest.
Lets stop giving Mikey a hall pass here ... he hasn't done squat since Elway retired, and never really had much of a defense then.
Resume's don't win football games .... Shanahan is a flat retread ... not worth repairing.
Look, they made some bad moves. The McNabb trade was a big mistake and so was the Brown trade. But, how many of the players on the roster are left over from the previous regime. This was a 4-12 team last year and we aren't going to get better overnight.
Shanny is a good coach, but he isn't a personnel guy (that's what got him fired in Denver). Neither is Allen. What we need is a personnel guy or we are going to continue to suck.
Give me evidence .... I don't want your opinion ... I want evidence of "Shanny is a good coach".
Bad moves are plentiful ... but having McNabb on that list ... especially first on the list is really absurd.
You have a group who's talent is better suited to a 43 not a 34 defense, and right now, they can't stop the run or the pass ... and yes ... they are the same core group. They are not only giving up unprecedented yardage, but points per game is now the highest since 1998, the year before Snyder owned the team.
We've got the Haynesworth debacle ... this week benched for being 2 minutes late for a meeting on friday .... which hurts the team .... non-stop contest of Shanahan imposing his will with a player that could have helped given two other defensive starters out with injury. This is inexcusable with the season on the line. You can discipline players without hurting the team, but not THIS COACH .... they've ben poking Haynesworth in the eye since training camp.
Good coach my arse, he's a legend in his own mind, and doesn't believe he can do any wrong. His arrogance combined with lack of success is what got his rear end run out of Denver ... and Hasslett has never been a top defensive coach.
One of the few bright spots on this otherwise MISERABLE team is Banks ... and he was cut by the GENIUS .... lucky to even get him back.
Kemo? He plays like he's on ICE SKATES .... 3 down linemen on this team produces nothing. The opposition needs only hold or double team Arakpo and the defense is done. The offense? What offense? Totally mismanaged he running backs and receivers in camp ... keeping guys like Johnson and Parker ... only to cut them later ... keeping Galloway and Williams only to cut Galloway later ... Torrain was an injury risk, never being able to stay healthy ... offensive line has REGRESSED ... and now the entire team has no focus ... poor tackling .. dropped passes ... and yes ... poor QBing too.
The bottom line is, it was a MAJOR strategic error to rebuild the defense from the ground up without the proper pieces, when the offense has been the weakest link. And so far, looks like they've managed a net net failure on both sides of the ball, and I don't believe that this staff is actually getting the most out of the talent that is there.
