I'm a Thomas fan - I think he can be a big help - the only thing is that the coach is saying he's not quite ready to play yet and apparently this comes from how Thomas is doing in practice
I wish they would put him on the field but I don't think they should do that until he shows he can do what they need him to do

coaches do not play players based on anything like this - you have to show that you can make the plays exactly as the coach wants to see it otherwise you are not getting an opportunity to screw up the rest of the offense
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Last year everyone was talking about how Thomas was a bust.. Now everyone wants to see him on the field...SkinsJock wrote:RedskinjXd wrote:i used to own racehorses. and one thing i can tell you is that "morning workouts" mean nothing. some horses shine in workouts, but come race time, they just don't get it done. other horses look terrible during workouts, but find a way to shine during races. i am sure i will get ripped for this comparison... but i truly believe that some athletes CAN raise the level of their game during certain times. whether it be game day, prime time games, final drives, etc... during kickoffs, devin thomas looks like a game changer. i don't care what he has done during practice... because from what i have seen during his limited special teams play, he looks like a guy i want to be getting the ball. we don't have the luxury of having a surplus of great WRs. we fall into the category of, at this point, what can it hurt? i mean, those WRs, other than moss, have done nothing. thomas, at worst, would go out there and do nothing, and at the very least, EQUAL the zero production from galloway, williams, and armstrong. sometimes, you just gotta find lightning in a bottle. i just believe it is worth a shot to see if it is in thomas.

The guy played 1 year of WR in college right? What in our right minds even make us think he's ready for the NFL? Route running for a WR is the most important aspect of the game...

Two maybe's.
Maybe Thomas may not be up to speed on the playbook the way they want him too. Is that even possible though?
Maybe Shannahan wants him to learn behind a true professional in Galloway before he lets the reins go.

I guess he could be the second coming of 2003 second round draft pick Taylor Jacobs -- the guy who could make flying catches in practice but who disappeared on game day.
As we had exactly ONE WR catch pass last week, can it really be worse?
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!
GSPODS:
The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.

don't get me wrong - as I've said, I am a Thomas fan and have advocated for him to get more opportunities - I think what CLL was asking was the same question - "how much worse can it be" and I agree with the question but ....
we all remember Zorn (I know he's not a HC but ...) having issues with Thomas & Kelly and their entrance into the NFL - I wonder how much Thomas is preparing and showing in the practice schedules - is this guy trying to be the best he can be at every practice and during every drill? is there something to this guy's practice habits that is keeping him from being in there?
Kyle and Mike have to have more options and we have to get more from the other wideouts
so .... I think the question CLL and Vet are asking is a fair question - I've got to believe that there is more to this with the speed this guy has to not be more of a part of our passing game
Coaches are generally old fashioned about who gets to play and their practice habits are key to that
