That's hilarious. Albert takes our 21 million...in exchange, Shanahan asks for a nice helping of pain and vomit.

#Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall said a lot of players would have failed Haynesworth's conditioning test & that some are set up to be unattainable

Basically what I was saying. More overreaction from fans thirsting for negativity.

Looking trim!! Hope he catches up on the mental side quickly. He benefits the team. The reason Andre and Orakpo has double digit sacks. We need him.

From the way I read it, Shanahan is gonna make the big guy earn that $21 mil through pain and humiliation.

Everyone was all upset about Haynesworth missing the OTAs but now you start to see how a real coach breaks a player of his "superstar" mindset. If Haynesworth wants to play games and put his desires above the team, Shanahan just showed him who's house this really is...

I am confused about the corporate culture comment though. Who owns ESPN? Three guys in a van?

Haynesworth is a BUST....cut him. OR put him on the PUP list. That weight loss has caused him to be "physically unable to perform".

Yeah, losing 40 pounds made him less likely to succeed in a sprint drill.

Albert should be ok. Cooley said on NBC4 that the reason why he had to redo the second test is cause he went in to take a leak between the first and second runs. That was his own stupidity and thats why he had to run it a third time. All of this will blow over eventually and will make for a great story on "Americas Game."

Those of you saying that Shanny is being a jerk, I don't get. Haynesworth needs an attitude adjustment and Shanny is giving it to him. Old school. Can you imagine what Zorn would do? ROTFALMAO I hope he has to do it 5 times for a good ol' FU, then this ---> :lowblow: . Don't mess with the new sherriff. I bet the rest of the team is loving it. That's what good coaches do. Its because this isnt good business for the team, it lowers his trade value (if they want to move him), it makes the whole first day about Haynesworth (it was going to be anyways but it just extends this whole BS)....this doesnt help the team at all...it just helps Shanahan's ego.

ANd your statement contradicts itself....You want Shanahan to give him a big ol "FU" well that doesnt serve any purpose to the progress of this team, and that means Shanahan is putting his hurt feelings first and making himself bigger then the team

Tom Hagen put it best....its not personal its business
Sonny Corleone....Tom this is business and this man is taking it very very personal

Shanhan needs to not take it personal and show the maturity not to retaliate like a scorned woman

P.S. IM with CLL on all of this

Have you ever coached before? You obviosly have not. If you are late to practice, run. If you get a bad grade, run. If you are caught in the stacks with the coaches daughter, run. By punishing Haynesworth, you ARE serving the need of the team. Showing that you are in charge. You think in the Army, guys are being pardoned for being disobedient? No way.

Imagine what the other players would think if Hayneworth showed up after missing the enitre offseason and requesting a trade (blah blah blah), and he comes to practice and Shanny puts him on the starting unit, no questions asked. You think THAT woulkd be a good situation? It would be 2009 all over again.

This guy gets it...

This isn't personal it's discipline. He said he was in the best shape if his career. Shanty made him put up or shut up. You let Haynesworth come back undinged you may earn his approval but you'll never earn his respect.

Do we really want to see him take a knee after every play and taking O2 every third play like last season. I thought we wanted discipline. I thought we wanted accountability.

The best way to lose both is to show the team that you have two sets of rules; one for the stars and one for everyone else.

Ugh sir, you do not know that to be fact...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/07/29/haynesworth-shanahan-exchange-words-after-failed-conditioning-test/

It's currently our understanding that Haynesworth was the only lineman required to pass the conditioning test.

Not only did he have to do something nobody else did, he had to do more than what would be required of everyone else. That sir is a statement test purposed for him to fail. I aint mad at Mike for doing it at all. But complaining he failed something designed to make him fail is like complaining that I can't fly.

Shanahan said back in January that Albert would have to pass a conditioning test before he would be allowed to play.
This situation reminds me of the Movie "Remember the Titans",
the part when there going to camp and the coach is confronted by
his DE. The coach tells him is this your team or is this your daddy's
team? LOL

Albert get on the BUS..

He wasnt going to put him back into the starting lineup. He was GOING TO MAKE HIM GO THROUGH A CONDITIONING TEST at 7:30am (an hour and hald before everyone else showed up) AND HE WAS GOING TO BE ON THE 2ND TEAM DEFENSE! Thats enough, oh yeah, HE PASSED THE INITIAL TEST! Shanahan wasnt satisfied because he got too much time taking a leak in between sprints. Give me a break, this wasnt for the greater good of the team. Also, why does he have to wait a WHOLE DAY to try again?? He couldnt try 30 minutes later with the S&C Coach....No because Shanahan wanted to make sure he was embarrassed today.

Also, this isnt the Army, this isnt some pee-wee league sport. Its the NFL, these are grown men, and its a BUSINESS. It wasnt for the greater good to make Haynesworth a whipping boy today. I definitely think the first day of camp of the new regime was NOT enhanced by Shanahan making sure he got his shot in on Haynesworth. If he wants to flex his muscles; let him have a fair chance to go through the conditioning test, keep him on 2nd team and and have Haslett stay on him.

The team already has respect for him, they know hes a take-no-crap guy. I dont think this is going to hurt or help us unless it continues to get dragged out because Shanahan refuses to stop flexing his muscles. All I am saying is that this is was a unnecessary blemish on the opening, of an otherwise new exciting regime and a new feeling of rejuvenation.

If Shanahan had just ignored the lengthy bathroom break and passed him (and this continues), it takes less time for him to get in, get acclimated, and get back to being a part of this team. I dont care about AH. I care about this team and if hes going to be on it, I want him in immediately and learning the 3-4, if they dont want him cut him or trade him but stop trying to act like dragging this story out helps locker room moral. I want to wake up tomorrow hearing that he passed the damn test and hes practicing or we cut/trade him its effing pointless to carry this BS on....(sigh) HTTR!!!

P.S. I cant stand when anyone compares the NFL to a normal occupancy, the armed forces, or a lower level of competition.

1.) People with normal jobs dont get any near the amount of attention or money, its foolish to compare being in the NFL to your financing job.(Not saying you did just something I hear on the radio all the time)
2.) The Armed forces are not a sport. If you dont cooperate it could mean your life or the life of a fellow soldier not a missed blocking assignment or long run play.
3.) There's a reason its called PROFESSIONAL Sports because its a whole new set of rules and regulations then coaching a high school football team.

...One more thought if Peyton Manning is "caught in the stacks with the coaches daughter" who do you think gets let go first??....Not a sermon, just a thought

I actually thought he was out of shape. Now that I read more into it. It just sounds like Shanny is putting his foot down. Good job.

A three hundred yard sprint is no easy task. Not to mention two three hundred yard sprints one after the other. We will just have to see how Al takes this all. I am sure Big Al remembers what it was like to go through Hell week. In the football world disciplinary actions were called "farm". Basically if you showed up late you would have to run extra hundred yard sprints, bear crawls, 40s, or whatever type of physical activity the coach uses to discipline the players.
I didnt know Shanny was old school like that. Thats great. Haven't had this type of coaching around Skins land in a while.

REPORTEDLY - Haynesworth was given the extra drill ONLY because he did not do something between drills - IF another player had done the same thing they would have had to do this 'drill' also

Haynesworth is not going to get special treatment because he's 'special'

Shanahan is running the franchise and just because Haynesworth showed up (REPORTEDLY) in shape - he was not going to get any breaks from the coaches running tests or anything and when he (REPORTEDLY) made a stupid mental error between drills he was forced to do something that is a form of punishment

why does anyone think that he should be given preferrential treatment AND especially after the way he has behaved

hopefully this is all over soon and we can get this guy ready to play some fantastic defense for this franchise so we can get something decent for him when we move him out of here :D
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

What I heard is that he took too long of a break between part 1 and part 2 (not passed the whole test and had to take it again b/c shanny wasn't happy), and had to do part 1 over again and passed part 1 both times. It was part 2 (which some people call the third) that was failed.

I just read an article where it said Shanny's a hardass like no other in this day and age. And I believe it. And I think it's good for the team coming from what we've had inthe past decade.

IMO, all the drama can happen, and what big Al needs to realize is that there's a 90% probability that he starts vs Dallas, and everything between now and then is just BS. Play Shanny's game and swallow a little pride, and all will be good in September.

For all of the detractors who think this is a popularity contest, it's not. It's a business. When he gets on the field and makes everyone better around him, then he's doing his job, and that's what counts. Not his off-season theatrics. The sooner people accept it, the better they will be.

The break between drills is timed. This is to prevent anyone from getting any advantage from additional cardiac recovery time. Every additional second of rest is time for more lactic acid to be converted, and the heart rate to slow down. The point is, the brief break is part of the test... extra time gives the player an advantage at the start of the second set.

I don't believe this was not punishment... but simply leveling the playing field as the result of additional time for cardiac recovery between the first two sets. Shanahan was making the point that NO ONE is going to slide by on this team... that's just what Shanahan does... it's consistent.

Good call... solid leadership...

Haynesworth's completion of the third set demonstrates that he understands, and is getting in line. This could be very big.

He looks to be in VERY good shape... he has some catching up to do, but I don't see any reason that he shouldn't be running with the first team in a matter of days. Despite his history of petulance, he is very intelligent, and will grasp this system very quickly.

I'm with you on almost all accounts. The only thing I don't dig is that Shanahan claims that if they went thru the off-season program, they don't have to take the test. He said he KNOWS that the guys are in shape from working out a month ago.

If it's punishment then just say, "Hey, it's hell for you until I feel redeemed." Don't sugar coat it or call it something it's not. Big Al knows, it, we know it, and the media knows it. The detractors love it. But it's still Shanahan making sure big Al knows Shanahan's in charge. And it's a good thing.

no worries from my perspective - I just want this camp to NOT be about Haynesworth - it should all be about getting the guys ready for the season

I'm just concerned about this guy - he has shown at times that he is the real deal but he could be such a bigger factor for the defense and especially for the other guys playing next to him

in my opinion, Haynesworth needs a major attitude adjustment and Shanahan is going to get things going here in the only way he knows how
