I wonder why WE DIDn't bid on Marshall....he is a STUD....

Because WR is not even near the top of our needs list. The Phins gave up 2 second rounders for him. We can't afford that right now, we need those picks for higher priorities.

I would have much preferred this to the McNabb deal. Put water on Marshall...he's instant offense.

How is it a disappointment in the front office? I never heard they were pursuing Marshall. Deciding what you want them to do and being disappointed when it doesn't happen is a pretty self fulfilling way to stay disappointed. The Marshall Plan was a bad idea anyway...

Two second rounders for a WR is a good deal ?

I think not!

Look I was on the Marshall bandwagon three years ago, but 2 seconds for a WR... sheez, that's A LOT! I wouldn't have given two seconds for Andre Johnson (not that he was available) and he is a better player w/o BM off the field issues!

If Cerrato was here and we gave that plus the $50M dollars the (with near $30M guaranteed) everyone would be nailng him to a cross!

Lets see - Thug with money in Southbeach? Hmmmm. And he is a thug. Hope he can stay under control. He's so talented but is a waste b/c he can't stay on the field.

Two mid second rounders is a steal for a guy that's a top 3 wr in the NFL. Any sane GM would have made this move if wr was a need and he had the picks to spare. The Cowboys trade a first, a third, and a sixth rounder for Roy Williams, who isn't anywhere close to being as good as Marshall. Joe Gibbs trade two picks each, 3rd and 4th rounders, for scrubs like Duckett and Brandon Lloyd. By comparison this is a steal.

MAYBE - but with all the things we need, I'm glad they did not do this deal for the price we might have had to pay - we are not a team that is building for the now but rather for the future and while McNabb is a huge help with the transition, we just are not in need of a WR - we need O line help

some fans here think we are just a player or 2 away

we are looking to remake this franchise and we really need certain parts:

1 - we had no QB now we have one that will help
2 - we have some guys that can catch the ball
3 - we have some guys that can run the ball

now we need some guys that can run block and pass protect

I think Allen & Shanahan are doing well with the restraint that they are showing
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yes, and they were all morronic trades. I'll agree that the Fins got a bargain compared to those trades and maybe they do have the draft picks to waste and I might have agreed that it was a good trade if it wasn't for Marshalls off the field woes.

But mostly I just don't think WRs impact the game that much. If you have an OL, a good RB, a good D and a good QB you can get by with anyone at WR. Heck Philly did it for years and they didn't even run the ball.

I personally wouldn't have given two 2nd (a med 2nd and a who knows 2nd) for Jerry Rice in his prime! SF would have won just as many SB w/o him, the same can't be said if they didn't have Montana and later Young.

So I guess I just don't value WR that much, but I guess if UR going to over spend with draft picks for a WR, it might as well be for a stud like Marshall even though there is a very good chance you will lose him for a 4 game stretch at some time for off the field problems.

It will be interresting to see what Denver turns those 2nds into.

I can see that you are going to stick to management to the end, in spite of the fact it is doing exactly the opposite of what you think should be done.
Do you not see that they are just patching holes with vets to try and win now, not later. They are not acquiring young players. They are not rounding up draft picks, but, rather, trading them. They will draft in the first round and the late rounds just because they have a few picks left, and I suppose you will say then that they're building for the future. That argument will not hold water.

The odds are that one of the picks will be able to start for Denver within five years and the other will never start. Those are the real odds, not just odds off of the top of my head. Denver is either imbecilic or knows Marshall even better than his detractors do.

Not that there's any secret to it. When and not if Marshall gets into more trouble, he's going to start facing major suspensions. It doesn't matter how good he is if he's in street clothes. There is no possible way we should get that guy. Purcells took way to big a risk of when exactly Marshall's going to be back in it. Not just the 2 #2's but locking all that cap into a guy who may not be there at playoff time because he's stupid and can't control himself.
