Why do we suddenly need to add this guy when the guys here can get the job done AND we are letting go a huge force on defense?

I think you have to consider a few more things than what draft picks or players he might bring here - While Haynesworth IMO did not exactly push himself or seem very driven here last season he did have a big impact on the defense and helped the players around him. This all while being a part of a defense that looked good statistically but was IMO not properly managed by Blache

Recently this team and many fans have focused on players and not the team - we have to be careful not to make the same mistakes that Cerrato and Snyder made in looking to add and trade players without fully understanding what role these players would or did have with the other players around them

Haynesworth may be traded but I'm not sure that is in the best interest of the defense and having just paid him a lot of money I'm pretty sure the price to get him out of here is going to be very high - not that that's a bad thing

I think he's here this season but if he's traded we might initially think it made the team better but I'm not sure that the defense will be better off

Haynesworth needs to get his head straight and participate with desire - he is a defensive force and is hopefully here for a while longer

I am not saying that we could not be better off with Marshall but at what expense?

I'm hoping that the FO can focus on making the O line problems go away first, then we can fine tune the rest of the offense
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Face it. If COOLey was traded he would hold the most value of any TE traded in the past 5-10 years.

Actually, he wouldn't. He is coming off of an injury and would certainly not garner more than a 2nd round pick.

But I would trade him straight up for B Marshall. I would ask for Marshall and a 3rd but would settle for the even swap.

Cooley alone isn't going to bring back Marshall. No chance.

Marshall is an elite WR and Cooley is an elite TE. They are roughly the same age, but Cooley doesn't have Marshall's baggage that is why I would ask for Marshall and a 3rd! Plus an elite TE alters the game more than an elite WR.

A top receiver like Marshall is worth more than a top TE like Cooley. Marshall is almost two years younger and is not coming off of an injury.

Skinsjock your right on some fronts but remember Haynesworth does not want to play nose tackle. I believe he should be traded for somebody that wants to participate to the fullest. Now i'm not saying to bring in marshall but if he makes the team better so be it. Like you said it's about the team not just "Albert Haynesworth". Maybe we can trade him for Brandon Marshall straight up or for another shutdown corner, or maybe even a ball hawking safety.

Yea I agree wit the CK.. I'm only saying ship him out because of his attitude towards the new regime and stuff. I'm not even going to mention he's the ONLY player in recent years who got carted off the field just to come back a couple plays later. Oh, I guess I did mention it, funny how that works.

SJ.. but I do feel you though, we technically may not need him with Kelly/Thomas here but having a guy like Marshall opposite Moss will give defenses a harder job as opposed to our other WRs. I could be wrong, heck I hope I am.

don't get me wrong guys - I would love to have Marshall as I think it would only help Moss and the rest of the WRs a whole lot, not to mention McNabb :D

it's just that we need to make sure that offensive line is the priority

now if we can do both, we might be a whole lot more effective offense than I would have thought possible - Marshall would be a great addition as it would also allow Moss to become even more dangerous as the slot receiver
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Because we need draft picks and we have Fred Davis. I'm not gung-ho on trading him btw. But, if the market for previous TE's like Cooley is the same for Cooley - a 2nd round pick, I don't see how its something that is out of the question.

The same goes for Campbell and Carter.

What TE of Cooley's caliber and in the prime of his carreer was traded recently?

Don't say Tony Gonzales! Atlanta gave up what a second for him, so that would be the basement, not the ceciling for Cooley trade talks. There is trualy no other TE that has been traded recently that would have as much trade value as Cooley. And don't give me that knuckle head Skockey. He isn't half the TE right now that Cooley is!

Winslow was traded for a 2nd and 5th. He and Cooely are very comparable, although Winslow probably has a little more value.

Cooley is statistically well ahead of Winslow in catches, yardage, and touchdowns, almost doubling Winslow's TD total. He is also injured less and is totally without character issues, whereas Windslow is an idiot who has done what he can to mess up his career. Just how does Winslow have more value?

Gonzales, by the way, is 34 (and still drew a 2nd rounder in trade). Also, if Winslow drew a second and a fifth, Cooley is easily worth a first round pick. However, it would be idiotic to trade him. He's a major offensive threat right now and can be expected to be a primary target for McNabb.
Davis is not yet established and drops more passes than any TE presently in the NFL (an actual statistic released a month or so ago). He's a prospect that can be developed in conjunction with Cooley, not a replacement. Besides that, only a small percentage of second round picks ever become standout players in the NFL. Expecting to get equal value for Cooley from a second round pick is a fool's bet, somewhere between 16 to one against and 32 to one against. You can't build a football team playing those kind of odds. Even if we got a first round pick for him, the odds would be long against getting a player of comparable value.

Just imagine Brandon Marshall on one side, and Thomas or Kelly on the other with Santana in the slot, who is going to stop us? Also imagine if we trade haynesworth for at least a second we can trade for Lt Jared Gaither from Baltimore by the way he's a proven starter. Also with the fourth pick we can address another need like free safety. You guys know how bad Laron Landry is at playing free safety always getting beat on double moves. We can probably even trade down to get more draft picks.

Winslow got off to a bad start to his career, no doubt. However, over the last few years his numbers are actually slightly better than Cooley's. Winslow is also a year younger, more athletic, and is not coming off of an injury. Both are very good and top TW's, but at this point in time, Winslow, mainly because of that injury that Cooley sustained, has a little bit more trade value.

Last 4 years:

Games Played:
Cooley - 55
Winslow - 58

Receptions:
Cooley - 235
Winslow - 291

Yards:
Cooley - 2701
Winslow - 2913

TDs:
Cooley - 17
Winslows - 16

Apparently, there is an alternative spelling. Marshall, spelled C-O-O-L-E-Y.

Right, but the only tradable commodity that we have to package to get Marshall is Cooley.

When did he get "carted" off the field? Or do you really mean helped off the field? In that case you're completely wrong that he's the only player. And really, who cares if he takes a breather every now and then? Unless it happens at the end of a game an costs us a TO or ten seconds off the clock, it only gives the rest of our defense a rest as well.

If 37th could have netted him, and they knew it, than the McNabb deal was dumb.

What good would it have done to have Marshall with no one to throw him the ball!

We already have WRs that get wide open to just to never see a ball come their way or if it does it is out of bounds or severly under thrown. Getting Mershall with out a QB would have been a waste!

Have you ever seen Brandon Marshall play? He just made Kyle Orton look like Peyton Manning. And he is a lot younger than McNabb.

Getting Marshall would be great... but our offensive line is CRAP. I think McNabb is going to have to rely on Cooley and the short passing game too much for us to consider parting with him.
