An owner can do WHATEVER he/she pleases.
A WISE owner should limit his choices to picking the GM and/or President. After that, his role diminishes GREATLY. Most good owners get involved as part of the process to a LIMITED extent, such as JKC in the hiring of that unknown Joe Gibbs almost 30 years ago.
After that, wise owners should not only refrain from making personnel decisions but ALL other decisions on the football side of the operations, such as other coaches hirings, who plays or who does not, bypassing coaches with direct communications with players, drafting, player acquisitions, etc.
In other words, wise owners do not meddle. Good owners do not play fantasy football. Wise owners let the best people do the best job they were hired to do.
We have no signal yet that Daniel Snyder is not meddling. He does not have the benefit of the doubt for some of us. He would if he was a new owner. With over a decade of bad habits, it is difficult to believe otherwise.
The Washington Redskins have become the graveyard of coaches, good and bad coaches. Let us hope that Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan know that and acquired sufficient control to save their careers and reputations.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
