If you want an example, here's a list of the last 10 APY Leaders, how many were All-Pro for their year, much less should be thought of as HOF material?
2009 Josh Cribbs (26) 1,080 CLE
2008 Leon Washington (26) 2,337 NYJ
2007 Josh Cribbs (24) 2,312 CLE
2006 Steven Jackson (23) 2,334 STL
2005 Tiki Barber (30) 2,390 NYG
2004 Dante Hall (26) 2,236 KAN
2003 Dante Hall (25) 2,446 KAN
2002 Michael Lewis (31) 2,647 NOR
2001 Priest Holmes (28 2,169 KAN
2000 Derrick Mason (26) 2,690 TEN

You did last ten years how about career, not just a one time wonder. Here they are:
1. Jerry Rice 23,546 1985-2004 3TM
2. Brian Mitchell 23,316 1990-2003 3TM
3. Walter Payton+ 21,803 1975-1987 chi
4. Emmitt Smith 21,579 1990-2004 2TM
5. Tim Brown 19,679 1988-2004 2TM
6. Marshall Faulk 19,172 1994-2005 2TM
7. Barry Sanders+ 18,308 1989-1998 det
8. Herschel Walker 18,168 1986-1997 4TM
9. Marcus Allen+ 17,654 1982-1997 2TM
10. Curtis Martin 17,430 1995-2005 2TM
How many people on that list are HoF worthy? There are three people already in the HoF below BMitch. Jerry, Emmitt, Marshall, and maybe even Cutis will be enshrine at some time. Ans it wouldn't shock me if Tim Brown made it too. So on that list there are what Walker and BMitch that shouldn't be in.
BMitch was #1 when he retired. Jerry Rice played one more year just to add that "ridiculous" record to his resume.
BMitch and one other person are the only two people in NFL history ever lead the NFL in all-purpose yards four times. That other guy was named Jim Brown!
I'm not saying BMitch is a first ballot guy, but he should be in at some time.
