We'll be fine if the OL lasts... but that's always been the bottom line, and the game last night simply does not address that situation.

not so quick there, my friend - the pats did not make the playoffs last year as I recall and I'm almost certain their defense overall was about #10 and the defense against the run (which is basically what we were up against) was 15 or 16  AND I don't think they even played Seymour

we have a few little concerns but nothing they can't get fixed in time for week 1
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Really? You must have forgotten that we have the worst QB in the History of the World. :)

Have to make sure Norv stays out of the building against the Giants. Can't have those penalties.
With the Cardinals reaching the Super Bowl, is Dan Snyder officially the worst owner in the league?

Was the Patsies' #1 D still playing when Colt threw his INT?

What makes you think Campbell is not a good QB? - actually in my opinion he's a lot better than a lot of other QBs playing in the NFL right now. He may not be a great leader or a top 10 QB but he's sure better than most.

A lot of fans seem to like to point to the QB for a lot of the offensive problems, when there are usually a lot more reasons the offense does not work than just the fact that the QB doesn't cut it - Brunell is a case in point for some of his tenure here and in my opinion Campbell was NOT the main reason the offense did not play very well last year. We should have a really good QB here but even a really good QB was not going to make our team a scoring machine last year the way the plays were called and the way some of our other offensive players played.

btw - I do agree that the penalties last night were not good but I'm sure the coaches will use those to ensure that we learn from those mistakes - you cannot give away possession and field position with really bad penalties like we did - the good thing about mistakes in pre-season is that the team can learn from them
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance

Seymour did play the entire first half  and as stated before by many at this site, the defensive ratings are not alway indicative of how well your defense plays. A lot of the rankings are based on yards given up per game and several factors can effect the yardage your defense yeilds (prevent defense, offense scores quickly, etc). The past few years New England has had a tough defense, and though I am quick to play the pessimistic role, I am encouraged by our performance against a SOLID defense like New England. Also to mention that New England didn't make the playoffs last year is irrelevant considering Brady was out all last year.

You do know that they went 11-5 even tho Tom Brady only played 1 quarter all year.. I mean I would think that is a pretty good team.

This may seem slightly off topic, but I need to bring it up. Did anyone watch post-game live on comcast? Greg Blache is a complete ass to the media. Ive never seen a more abrasive, rude, unprofessional interview by a coach. I think Zorn or "The Dan" needs to explain to him that his profession exists only because of the fans, and the fans want these questions answered. The media are simply doing their jobs, nuff said. What a moron

I didn't see it. I usually like what Blache has to say to the media. What happend?

Anybody have any concerns about Portis? Six carries for eight yards?

I'm just asking since everybody was so exorcised about Campbell going 1 for 7 last week.

Just kidding of course. But seriously, I don't know why they bother putting Portis out there in the preseason. He doesn't even look like he's trying.

I'm really hoping Marcus Mason makes the team this year.

I saw it and I thought it was pretty funny. I actually like Blache's no-nonsense, no-BS demeanor. Did he get a little annoyed? Sure... but near the beginning of his answer, he clearly winked at Kelly Johnson, so I think he was playing around a bit, at least initially.

You have to remember, these guys get blasted by the media with ignorant questions daily, and as Blache says, it's always the same old stupid questions. And let's be honest, they don't come any more anal than CSN's Trevor Matich. There was nothing wrong with his question and if you asked Greg after the interview, he'd acknowledge the media is just doing their job. But if we'd have to face the media barrage on a daily basis like these coaches do, I'm sure we'd lose our patience now and again too. How many coaches can you think of that got annoyed in a post game interview? Many. It happens.

For those that missed it, Blache's interview can be seen here.

I just watched it, and I don't see what the big deal is. He looked like he was mostly joking, but he does seem to have an issue with that one reporter. The look on his face was great, though. Very reminiscent of Mel Kiper after the "who the hell is Mel Kiper Jr." comment.

It seemed to me that he got irritated when Trevor couldn't come up with a good reason why he asked the question. He talked about the Brady to Moss touchdown(s) and obviously that hit a cord with Blache, because of all the questions he has to answer about pass rush. When the original design of the defensive play called was more of a contain.

Let me be clear here - I think we played well considering it was a a pre-season game AND against a solid team - at the same time the "stats" are what they are for last season - NE was not a very good defense against the run last year based on statistics - I do think that NE is a good team overall but lets not cherry pick here
Brady is an offensive star but his team's defense was not as good as it used to be.

we were not very good last year as a team overall - we are looking a lot better defensively this year but nothing really counts until September 13th

I'm more concerned that our qb is having trouble hitting deep posts

And our Oline was bullied at times

Wait a minute..... after watching the Blache interview, I kind of got the impression that he was the one who got the 15yard sideline penalty. Anyone else catch that? If so what the hell did he say to the ref?

He gave him the business. I still can't believe that call being made in the pros.

Agreed - OR, why make that call - this is pre-season, just go over and straighten things out :)

I understand from some of the comments during the game that the referees will make calls to make a point during the pre-season but I am not sure that is the right way to go. Players are coached to play within the guidelines and the rules - refs should just do their job - I seem to remember an expression that a game that is well controlled by the refs is one where they are hardly noticed.

It was actually Jerry Gray that got the unsportsmanlike penalty for yelling at the ref.

good game ,,, I did not see any unsportmanlike penalty but i do no that those are killers and are not needed .. my favorite part of the game was the offense and the Wideouts the passing game looks more quick and exciting, alot more routes than i saw last year...
if the defense is all together ready to go and i know it will be then come sept. the skins will look great on defense all around,, and if healthy will be great all season .. good game :D
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.
god blessed us with # 59 ... go skins

It felt awesome to see our guys dook'n it out with the Pats. I loved the play calling and the fact JC is looking waaaay better than before. 17-17 at halftime with the Pats playing hardcore. Gotta love that! I'm not saying the guy is better than our other young WRs but I'd love to see Marko run with the first team. Fade pass to corner of endzone and that dude would get to it. Colt's 2nd offense was playing against the Pats 1st defense and they looked real good too. Mason is a stud, I hope we can keep him (at what cost though, drop Rock?).. Rayner? Suisham? Hunter needs to punt the ball better too. Those penalties we need to work on, get more disciplined out there. Overall though, I REALLY enjoyed that game and I hope we keep it up.

I think Hunter is punting great. Best punter we've had in a long time.
