hall if we do not have him signed yet. That will be our first call.

After that, I think we are going to speak with someone like Eric Pears. He was trained in the Bronco's system which is the zone run scheme. I believe thats what we use.

But it will be interesting.

How about Shane Lechler and Rob Bironas for starters? How nice would it be to go into a season with two solid kickers for the whole season?

I like the Jason Brown mention, but think we need Guards and Tackles more. So I'd be interested to see the price tags of Stacy Andrews and Vernon Carey. Andrews especially would be a good fit. Big, likes the right side, can play guard or tackle, I think has started every game for 5 years.

Carey isn't a free agent. The Dolphins signed him to a 6 year $42 million extension.

Not bad. He's getting about 4.5 mil salary this year and 15 mil guaranteed (2.5M for 6 years). I could see Snyder making room to fit Andrews for that kind of money. Not outrageous and he's entering his prime years and he's very reliable.

I'm sure Chip Loelmiller is still available...BUT, why do we need a kicker? Our kicker is the least of our worries -- we need big guys to block and rush the quaterback. Have good lines and the kicker doesn't matter.

Have a crappy oline and no pass rush and the team sucks! Pretty simple.

The only position I'm okay with us signing in FA or picking in the draft -- besides O and D line is outside linebacker...that's it.

Vinnie has not focused on the lines the past few years and it shows.

I think we are fine at kicker but currently I don't think we have a punter on our roster. Not 100% sure.

Fine at kicker? are you kidding? I agree it isn't the most important position, but since kicker accounts for more scoreboard points than ANY other position AND the Skins haven't had a solid kicker since Lohmiller, it would be a wise 1mil investment to bring in someone.

Suisham had THE WORST FG% of any starting kicker in the NFL last year. 72% A decent kicker could easily have been the difference between making the playoffs or not.

Fine at kicker? Wow. Our kicker missed more kicks (10) than any other kicker in the NFL last season. We are certainly not fine at the kicker spot and that is an area that without question must be upgraded this off-season.

If we skate in the playoffs b/c of a few 40+ yd FGs, then we've still got things to worry about.

Not sure what your point is. ?? I haven't seen where anyone suggested that ALL we needed was a kicker. But for roughly 1Mil/yr. you can get a big improvement at kicker. It still takes the 22 men on offense and defense to put us in FG range, but now, we get 3 points instead of handing the ball back to the opponent at the 30 yard line. Makes a significant difference.

John Carney was third in the NFL in field goal percentage last season, despite playing at the Meadowlands. He only missed 3 kicks during the regular season. Yea he is old but he is a definite upgrade over Suisham.

Kicker

Post by djlash »

We made it into the Super Bowl on Mark Mosley's leg. A good kicker is a must. No one remembers how many games we won by 3 points or less to get us into the Super Bowl. Only that we won. A good kicker is a must.

Free Agents:

Carney 35-38, 92%
Feely 24-28, 86%
Stover 27-33, 82%
Mike Nugent - was hurt last season, but I think he is young, has a strong leg and would have more upside then Suisham

Our kicker:
Suisham 26-36, 72%

It's unbelievable that Stover is still playing.

The dude appears in the original Tecmo Bowl.
