Chris, there is truth to what cleg is saying about DeSean. I even posted a couple of articles about it late last summer. It was reported by the media in Philly that DeSean was caught sleeping in the classrooms during meetings and film review, was always the first to remove his helmet during drills (when instructed not to) would avoid eye contact with his position coaches, would only act interested when Reid walked by and was reported as being very arrogant and cocky with the coaching staff. So cleg is right, DeSean is no model citizen on that team.

There are many reasons not yet posted here as to why DeSean has been more involved. Some are correct here; we knew the Skins would target a receiver in this past draft but said they wanted physical receivers with size, and that ain't what DeSean offers.

The Eagles have been extremely thin at the receiver position for years. Secondly, there PR was awful, as I'm sure some may remember their problems in that area last year. A lack of production at WR and numerous fumbles at PR made drafting a WR/PR a priority for the Eagles.

In addition to being extremely thin at the WR position, unforeseen injuries this year quickly elevated DeSean to a primary target. Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis have missed significant playing time this year due to injuries. That left them with Greg Lewis, Hank Baskett and Jason Avant to round out their WR roster. Not a very intimidating threesome.

Even though we needed WR's to groom for the near future, I just don't think Zorn had much intention of benching ARE and Thrash, one with a big salary and one considered to be a "core Redskin". I also don't think Zorn anticipated both Kelly and Thomas missing almost the entire training camp due to hamstring injuries. Maybe Zorn DID initially intend to bench ARE and Thrash and play the rookies, but felt it might not earn him respect from the players and might garner him criticism from the press for doing so. We just don't know.

Nevertheless, I honestly believe things will be much different next year and we'll be happy our rookie 2nd rounders have gotten a year under their belt and a chance to perform in the same system for consecutive seasons. But as others have done in this thread, to just chalk it up by saying our QB sucks, our coach is stupid and Danny Boy is a meddler sounds like sour grapes and a desperation grasp to have someone to blame, when in fact, there are other, far more logical explanations as to why DeSean was used more than Thomas in their rookie seasons.

Oh my bad. That was totally an error on my part. I thought that said Devon. LOL

That being said, I still find that post distasteful.

And yet they still win while we nake excuses for losing because we don't have WR's

Yeah my brother in laws are from Philly (and we go up there quite often), and I'm totally astonished at how the Eagles fanbase hates McNabb and Reid. I mean...do they understand that 6 time pro bowl QBs aren't exactly common? Don't they remember the gravy days of Bobby Hoying? Sure, McNabb has issues...but he's still a damn good QB.

Live in Philly, follow the local news about the team then call me out. He is an arrogant ball hawk who sulks when things don't go his way - he is a punk. McNabb and he don't get along and it seems the coaches don't really like him either.

Unless he matures as a person he is going to flame out.

They want to run McNabb out of town because in 10 years they have not won a Super Bowl. McNabb is also not a Philly type of guy - he is super sensitive, complains about the fans, acts and says stupid things in public and more often than not does not perform well in the clutch. This is the primary reason Jeff Garcia was beloved here because he was gritty and tough. For us Redskins fans who've had to deal with a sorry franchice for a decade and a half it is hard to understand but for the Eagle fans who have an organization that actually runs itself well they are frustrated that they've never won the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, I have a horrible feeling that the Eagles will go to the Super Bowl this year now that they are on a roll.

Honestly, who knows what kind of WR's we have (meaning in the rookies,)
they haven't had a real chance to prove themselves. Devin has been all over the place on special teams making good plays (mostly on kick and punt coverage.) He had one crucial drop and didn't get looked at seriously after that. Jackson got played, made some serious rookie mistakes, but has ended up as a decent reciever. Devin very very rarely got played, made some rookie mistakes and now isn't even looked at seriously. Devin (and Kelly) needed to play more for this or any comparison to even be legit.

I don't think you can give McNabb all the credit for Jackson. He is really explosive. Noboby's making any threads of how scared they are of Jason Avant, Reggie Brown, and Hank Baskett. He's basically a Moss type player that is taller and hasn't yet lost his elite vertical speed. He's not going to be a polished WR, but he will bug people with his speed.

Avant has some pretty good hands.

mcnabb is dependant mostly on the recievers and the coach they are productive together unlike the skins point wise... stats can't tell all of the story, I personally like the recievers but can the skins even throw the ball {oline} I even think and hope of coarse that Kelly will be explosive,
I love watching and waiting to see what the hecks going on.
god blessed us with # 59 ... go skins

The last thing the Redskins needed to draft was another small receiver.

Yeah let's pass on a proven collegiate productive WR for a 1 yr wonder who with the benefit of hindsight sucks.

We NEED touchdowns; I thought Devin Malcom and Fred would deliver some...how wrong I was.

Thomas had one TD called back and he, Kelly and Davis rarely saw the field.

I am aware of the injuries. Still it seems to me Zorn had no intention of giving either or the new receivers a decent shot. When he wasn't ignoring them, Campbell was, and Zorn was ignoring the fact Campbell was only throwing to two receivers and that Thrash was only taking up space.

Zorn seems to me as stupid as Gibbs was about traditional NFL mythical BS about vets and rookie. What a boor. If I hear it takes so many year to develop as.......... one more time I'll have a screaming fit. There are impact rookies by the dozen in every major sport in America these days.

For every guy you say has finally developed as a player, I'll show you a guy who hasn't developed at all but was finally given a decent shot by some traditionalist moron.
