Zorn will be back for '09 season
RIP #21
The best thing they did with this decision was doing it quickly and not make it into a huge deal. I think it is absolutely the right move. Unless they could get Bill Cowher they would either end up getting a big name who will disappoint or another unknown like Zorn and we would have to start over.
Give the guy at LEAST one more year. For god sakes he has a winning record. Yes, we should be doing better but give him time. This is the right move.

I miss you 21.
God I wish we had a second round pick.

Did they? It seems like this rumor has been festering for at least two or three weeks now. I don't see why there should have been any expectation that a coach in his first season might lose his job.
Cerrato should have been out in front of this two weeks ago saying that they have a plan to build a winning team, and you don't do that by hiring a new coach every year. Instead the guy is showing a pathetic amount of "support" for the coach he so enthusiastically hired in January. And who really feels any confidence that Cerrato actually has a plan?

Cowher would be a huge mistake. Keep in mind that Cowher was on a 20 year plan. I don't think he'll stick around for as long as it takes to get another SB with another team. The man has nothing left to prove.

I would agree that this is the best move but I don’t think one more year is enough. I believe Zorn should stick around a least to the end of his contract or longer if we are consistently in the playoffs. Winning a SB doesn’t happen over night. Another poster said Cowher is on a 20 year plan, I rather stick with one guy for a long period of time and finally win a super bowl then keep switching coaches. It has been 27 years sense the last time we won a super bowl and 7 coaching changes and we are still a long way from a SB championship. Lets be patience with Cerrato, lets be patience with Zorn, and lets be patience with Jason.

Exactly. The worst thing for our franchise is to get another coach, before you let Zorn implement his plan, and get players he thinks he can win with.
It takes time, and patience, to build a team.

Exactly. A winning record in the NFC East for that matter. Thats not an easy thing to do as a rookie HC. Glad Snyder decided to keep him, even though we shouldn't even have to be talking about this, its not like he is 0-15.

I agree but I think we all know this isn't Vinny decision...Which tells me that Snyder was on the fence about bring Zorn back...Vinny said they would evaluate after the season and then we beat Philly and like that Zorn is back???

Actually, its only been 17 years since we last won a SB, it only seems like 27 years.

Keeping Zorn is the ONLY sensible thing to do.
But the last time feels almost looks like a lifetime to me.
Still, I enjoy and treasure each and every one of them dearly.
I have been around for each and every Superbowl appearance, let alone every Lombardi Trophy.PAPDOG67 wrote:Actually, its only been 17 years since we last won a SB, it only seems like 27 years.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
Zorn needs to be given at least 3 years no matter how our record is next year.

we are going against tradition here... Usually this is rebuilding time again. Personally, I'd like to see what he can do next year, but I'd also like to see another QB coach at the sideline or a new OC, he can't do all of it can he?
