JC looked like he got a little bit more comfortable as the game went on

I'm with you on the rest, but his performance didn't cut it and he needs to step up. New system doesn't equate to not being able to hit receivers, that's mechanics. I know I've been arguing against the bashers and saying we need to give JC a real shot this year and I'm saying this, but my point was never that people need to be all blue sky and happiness or that we shouldn't say when players aren't playing well. Just there's a point where all they're doing is ripping the team and the players and accomplishing nothing and that point was a small dot in their rear view mirrors by the time I raised it. JC is still clearly our best option THIS YEAR. But yesterday was very disheartening on that count. If he'd been inconsistent I could be a lot more positive then his just being bad.

Even if Taylor was less than 100%, I didn't see any less production out of that spot than I did from last year.

We are going to have a very tired defense if the offense doesn't get it in gear and sustain a drive. I agree with most of the posts in this thread that point out the lack of urgency they had during the game and more importantly at the end of the game. It looked like they thought they could score a TD and go for a 3 or 4 point conversion, no tempo, no sense of urgency.

What I don't understand is it seems the coaching staff has one offensive and one defensive game plan and only one, and they're unable or unwilling to make adjustments during the game.

Did we not see CP run to the sidelines, recommend something to Zorn and then see CP ramble off two huge runs?

Did we not see the defense shut down the Giants in the 2nd half?

Joe Gibbs isnt coaching the Giants, they weren't protecting the lead, they would have scored on every possession if we let them.

Nobody is happy about the game but let's not just make up things to complain about.

You remind me of the mayor of Amityville who was determined to ignore the shark problem until it swam up and bit him in the a$$! The Skins defense got away with one last night in the second half. That doesn't mean they will continue to get away with it every week, and they won't if they continue with the cushion pass coverage.

Jason was very rough but so were those critical drops. You can't drop passes when you're QB is struggling.

Defense was very solid yesterday. Corners looked shaky in the beginning but got better in the second half. Fletcher outstanding as always. Washington solid old reliable. Jason Taylor needs to get healthy and move to the other side. Overall defense stopped the bleeding but we still ended up with a black eye.

Offense was horrendous!

Jason Campbell was indecisive. He is so talented and has all the tools, all though I am a Colt Brennan supporter. Jason Campbell looks to have everything it takes. His passes have plenty of zip and he made most of his throws were they needed to be.

Offensive line slow to start got better in second half. Running backs Portis and Betts looked good. Lack of a passing attack caused the Giants defense to stack the box and contain the running game. Portis pancaked Giants defensive end and is still the heart of this team.

Why didnt ey get more passes thrown his way? Our receivers are not getting open and when they do they dont catch the ball. ey was getting doubled most of the game because our other receivers are not a threat.

Devin Thomas and Malcom Kelly need to step up and take there proper place in the team. They were brought here for a reason. The reason is the receivers we already have are not cutting it. Hurry up rookies!
I am sure Zorn will start Thomas and Kelly when they earn there spot.

So Overall the team needs to gel. The rookie wideouts have to step up and take there proper place on team. Which would bring balance to this stagnant offense. Which means Portis wont have to go against 8 man fronts as often.

This would fix most all the problems on offense. Simple Thomas and Kelly must show up! Campbell, Portis , ey are all great but the wide outs need to step up!

Trust me folks what needs to happen is THomas and KElly have to become what we brought them here for!

I have faith though because they are only rookies. Also that was the first game yesterday. Once Thomas and Kelly are playing at a high level the offense will be balanced.

All though I am a big Colt Brennan fan, Jason Campbell is so talented and I know he can be a special player. Its not JCs fault our receivers cant get open and drop the ball when they do.

I would suggest to everyone to watch the Zorn interview on Redskins.com. The man knows he made mistakes and he admits to them. He said he wished he could have some of the calls he made back. The man can teach as well as learn. Have a little patience and you will see that Zorn will improve dramatically as the season goes along.

Cappster, I hope you're right. I just don't want to see a coaching change anytime soon. Dannyboy has to understand that it takes time to build a team. We might have to take some lumps for a year or two but in the long run, we need to see how Zorny pans out. When I used to coach, I always told my players that making a mistake isn't neccessarily the worst thing that can happen...making that same mistake TWICE is the worst thing that could happen. I hope the players and the coaching staff learned from the first game and we see some improvement when we play New Orleans, that will be a true measure of where the team is and how they'll deal with the rest of the season.

I like our chances in the next 4 games, by the time we get to dallas we will be battle tested and part of that is getting it handed to us last night, remembering that we had opportunities to win that game, it's like Zorn said that was not a blowout, that was us with a chance to win.

Is this the play where Santana had his man beat by 3 yards, then slowed down so the DB could catch up and take away the inside? Wrong answer. That one was mostly on Santana, though Jason was a hair late getting the pass off. If he stays in stride, takes away the inside from the DB, that ball hits him in the hands, or the DB runs up his backside for a possible PI call and 1st Down on the 1. Santana has to sell it, make it happen.

I don't think Davis even dressed last nite, but Yoder can block. He's also a TE.

We are not as bad as we looked and we are certainly not as good as we should be.

The defense played reasonably well considering the defensive backfield situation. We look like we will have a chance at having a decent defense.

The offense will continue to be a work in progress. I think Portis will have a really great year - this guy is special. We have to get Campbell to be quicker - in my opinion he has to make reads a lot quicker and work on his release. I have always been concerned about how he has handled the speed of the game and he is not getting any better. Some have it and he does not look good. That being said we are a lot better off with him than any other option at QB - we will need to add a big time QB sooner rather than later. Collins is a back up and Brennan is years away.

I think you got your thumb on the problem, but to say we are a lot better off with Campbell than any other option is ignoring a whole bunch of things, including this game and 4-12 for 40 yards in the first half. That is once again, pathetic. And from the very first play, a sack, was on Campbell. The o-line had established a pocket...Campbell drifted out of the pocket and to the right, right into the rusher. Campbell not only holds the ball too long...he has no feel for the game....LOUSY instincts and poor pocket presence. Exactly how much worse could it get with either Collins or Brennan back there? I say it couldn't get any worse than that. This game was a mirror image of the last two embarrassing efforts from the great JC.

Apparently Zorn has been reviewing films of 2006 and 2007 to compare to the pre season. And after that miserable first half, I think he sees what he's got, and in the 4th quarter, Zorn was calling the only plays he thinks Campbell can manage....hand offs, and dump offs.

Now that certainly wasn't going to win the game for us, but neither was calling plays down field that didn't have a snowball's chance. I guess he figured the odds of CP taking one to the house were better than watching Campbell stand back there looking like a clueless idiot.

The defense did an OUTSTANDING job considering that they spent most of the game on the field. With a lessor effort on D, this game could have easily been 40+ to 7

I disagree with you, but what else is new? The important thing is that Zorn disagrees with you too. That was totally on Campbell. and Zorn makes no bones about it.

Some of you guys have said that we should give Zorn at least two years so we can see the full potential of his offensive schemes.

But would not that put us in rebuilding mode?

A lot of players on the team, especially on the O line, will be old (for the NFL) to play their positions. Linebackers same thing. Rocky and Blades are young, but are still basically unproven and injury prone.

What I´m saying is that I can´t seem to grasp in what direction we are going. Are we a veteran team that only needs a few wrinkles in the Offense to be really good or a veteran team that is purging itself slowly while Zorn settles in.

As for the deep Moss play: Campbell had to avoid the rush, he was nearly sacked on the play, which is why he was late getting off the throw, and why Moss stopped running.

Ask the Cowboys or the Eagles.
One SuperBowl in 13 seasons isn't exactly impressive either.
Some guy the Redskins once hired had 4 SuperBowl appearances and 3 SuperBowl victories in a 13 year span.
The only thing I'll give Cowher is that his power running game is suited for what the NFC East used to be. The NFC East isn't the "Smash-Mouth" power running division it used to be. Even the Beast Of The East is now passing oriented, and Cowher does not fit that mold.

I would say you're reading too much into example he used. I don't think he's a proponent of Cowher, but simply using Cowher as a popular example so everyone can understand his point.
