When I visited Scotland, I think they understood me OK, but I got lost at times:

"Sah'tn in or tahk-away?"

I learned that the answer to that can never be "yes."

My grandfather and grandmother on one side immigrated from Ireland and on the other side a longer history here but again mostly Irish. That makes me 100% American.

Interesting thread. I'm Scots-Irish, with a touch of Oglala Sioux on my maternal Grandmother's side. According to my father, who once traced our family tree, I am a distant distant (WAY distant lol) descendant of Mary Queen of Scots...

We all know how that turned out -

John Augustine Washington, George's brother, is my 8th great grandfather.

I am related to both Rob Roy MacGregor and Leif Erikson. Also, for Washingtonians, Oliver T. Carr is my grandmother's cousin.
