I made the post early in the game that concentration might be an issue.NC43Hog wrote:So all week we cry and say how football doesn't matter, Sean is what was important , so we have the worst WEEK in Redskin history and all is forgotten. It's back to the Fire Gibbs, we SUCK posts.
O-line had its problems -- a few false starts, and a missed assignment which opened up a lane the size of New Jersey that led to the safety.
Could such a concentration issue have led to the second time out? Maybe. Circumstances are understandable but at 1:00 on Sundays, it still comes back to football first.

Well it finally came to this for JG to finally fess up and say it. On the Radio Locker room report he just admitted that it was his fault that they lost the game and apologized to the fans, the team, and everyone connected with the Skins.
It should have never come to that, and that's wht hurts the most.

Gibbs has no business making calls for this team anymore. He should move to GM next year and bring in a head coach.
How about JC coughing the ball up again? Twice I might add. Freakin Bum!

So all week we cry and say how football doesn't matter, Sean is what was important , so we have the worst WEEK in Redskin history and all is forgotten. It's back to the Fire Gibbs, we SUCK posts.
Sure the Skins should have won this game, but they aren't the ones who are pathetic!
For me, and all Redskins fans, wanted to see this team win in the worst way to honor Sean. Which makes this loss so much more agonizing. If they had come out, been run off the field and the death of Taylor made obvious by a terrible game by everyone, I think I could accept that. But another in a long string of choke job losses is almost to much to handle at this point.
Bruce has the authority. When Bruce makes the decision, it's a Redskins decision.

I am not so sure I want him being GM either.
He is still the face of the Redskins though. I dont see him retiring. I hope he himself brings in Cowher or someone of the same caliber. If not I do not see him stepping down or Snyder firing him.

Kind of hard to believe people are blaming Gibbs. People complained about running the ball when in the redzone so they pass constantly and still don't score a TD. They go for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goals (like some had been calling for -- a more aggressive call). But, some people seem to overlook the turnovers and the fact a FG at the end wouldn't have mattered if not for the turnovers. Plus the guy already made the 50+ yarder easily but a penalty on the coach lost the game? Geez, gimme a break.

It wasn't a play at all. Gibbs called back to back timeouts to freeze the kicker which is against the rule. The 2nd TO resulted in a 15 yd penalty which moved the ball 15 yds further in from the 51 yarder it would have been. It became a chip shot instead of a long attempt.

Naturally, we took a three and out instead of actually trying to get the first down. That's when I knew we would lose. Apparently, Gibbs had/has forgotten what's happened when he's done that all year.Sir_Monk wrote:we need one more 1st down.
The man has learned from past experience well enough. Too bad he can't learn from recent experience.

If Gibbs had asked, there's no way the official flat-out lies.dlc wrote:Where's the character from a guy who SAYS he values it so much? Even when he "takes the blame", he has to partially blame an official too. Who here thinks that the official told him that it was ok?

Nothing you say above takes away from the fact that Gibbs today probably made the worse game-time decision of the season by a coach in the NFL. It calls into question the state of his mind, especially in regard to handling pressure.

He basically lost the game by that call...I feel like puking..on a day we could have gained in the wild card race with the Eagles losing. What this season could have been without all the losses we gave away

I agree. I guess I expected to see less groaning in wake of the week we've endured...guess the more we learn, the more we forget. The staff, much like the players, are human beings. I didn't expect a win today, I only wanted the players to get back on the field to begin the healing process.
To hear the boos at the end of regulation made me want to vomit. I'm ashamed of the fans who contributed to that. No one is happy that we lost, but losing a family member (which essentially Sean was to them and many of us) would make it impossible to focus.
Maybe some of you should go back and read some of the tribute posts...even some that you have written yourselves and remember that this was probably the toughest game to prepare for in their lives...and move on.

Instead of half-assing being aggressive, how about going it for on fourth down and play-action. How about going 4 wide in the red zone? Simply making the correct decision and going for it, doesn't necessarily mean that he made the correct play call.
The reason why we get our butts kicked the 2nd half. They analyze what we did the first half and KNOW that it will be the exact same thing the second. We might as well give the other team our playbook at half time.

we would have been in the playoffs with a win
