I don't think anyone hates Lloyd (at least I don't); we just want him to become a major part of the offense, on par with the contributions made by Cooley, Moss, and ARE. I figure since Caldwell won't even begin practicing with the team until today, Lloyd's probably a lock for the No. 3 spot for at least the Philly game and maybe even the NYG game. If so, I wish him the best, and may he have blockbuster games and show he deserves a major role in the offense.

Thanks... you'll notice that MY post was gone before you even responded as I had two posts going at once and they got jumbled.

I assure you... what was left in the post... would not be considered 'wrong' by the vast majority of this board or any other board.

If you're looking for catching ability, you're barking up the wrong tree, and that just can't possibly be fair to Brandon at this point in his career. That's what Santana and ARE are for, right, BLlievers? I mean, why else would he get "swole", unless he meant to improve on the thing he does best, i.e. blocking? :?:

The irony of the biggest apologist on the board mocking people for defending a guy is outrageous. I'm sure like most people... I find most of your comments self-serving and without a drop of football sense or logic... these comments just wreak of hypocrisy as well.

Who'd have thought you could move the bar lower for yourself?

"Hate" is a strong word. How many of us here personally know the man? I would think that would be a pre-requisite for developing an opinion about anyone.

Hypocrisy and false faith seems to work for you every other day....

But to say any more than that I'd need to take it to Smack and I've seen you in action there... why waste my time? You'll just fold like Chinese laundry.

Word. [-(

A lot of the backlash against WR#85 is that his acquisition carried as much hype and hope as the Santana Moss acquisition, and should have catapulted the Skins over the top.

Of course, the guy regressed --or played true to form (you be the judge)--, and now it sucks to know that the team might have blown yet another offseason trade.

Perhaps he'll turn out to be another Brunell-esque acquisition, which, if it follows the same pattern, might mean that this (his second season in DC) will be his standout year, only to be disappointed by his third.

There's hope for this season yet! :P

In defense of Lloyd, the two seasons before he was traded here, he had 48 and 43 receptions, so he has shown he can be a contributing second WR. And he never had an elite QB throwing to him either, unlike WRs who've played with Brady, Manning, etc.

Okay, I'm no J-Lac fan. But he's a pro who's at Skins park, watches film, and makes a living covering the Skins. I think he's often a glass half empty guy, stated that many times, but here is his take on this very topic.
From J-Lac's Chat today:

"Washington, D.C: Hey Jason! How's your son doing? Haven't heard anything about him lately. I hope all is well.

So is B. Lloyd in the doghouse? Did he have that poor of a game? Santana Moss Didn't fair well (2 dropped passes). Is there any chance B. Lloyd will live up to his contract or are the 'Skins done with him?

Thanks!

Jason La Canfora: Thanks so much for asking. Rocco is doing great, eating baby food now, looking more like a sumo wrestler everyday. Chloe actually started preschool this week, so that was pretty mindblowing dropping her off this morning. amazing how fast all of this happens.

as for lloyd, please, friend, amigo, let's not ever compare him to santana, even in passing. santana has more than earned the right to drop a few. the other guy ...

it's not even a matter of being in the doghouse - just make a play, one play, a single play every now and then. don't give up on routes, fight your guts out for a 50-50 ball in the end zone, and then, if you get beat and they pick it off, at least pretend like you have some desire to tackle the guy before he runs 35 yards upfield."

If he doesn't watch game film he should be fired.

More from the chat:

"Los Angeles: True or false: Todd Wade will make us forget all about Jon Jansen.

True or false: if it wasn't for his cap-killing signing bonus (great move, front office) B-Lloyd would have been cut by now.

Jason La Canfora: I think that's a double truth"

OK, I still don't believe he watches any, I think you are overestimating the dedication that he (and the Post in general) put into analysis. In fact, I would wager very few NFL beat writers watch game tape. And, the chat is his opinion. I don't believe said opinion is any more informed than many others.

I watched the play in question again and after the interception, he does pull up a bit from a dead run to a jog. There's no question about that. He's human, he's frustrated (probably at himself for not making the catch), and he's certainly not the only guy to not go at full speed once the play has moved past him. (Is that even a good thing to do, all of the time? I mean, I wouldn't want the offensive line to be sprinting as fast as they can downfield after Moss has caught a 50-yard pass and is in a foot-race to the endzone. What's the point? It just seems like a good way to get injured. The players have to use their best judgment, I would think.)

However, to say he gave up on the route or that he wasn't running the route hard--there's no evidence of that at all. Even if there was, receivers often bait defenders by running at one speed and then bursting once the ball is thrown. My 2 cents

JLC wrong again...

1. If The rock never plays another down Redskins fans won't forget him.

2. Lloyd's cap hit this year is $2.42M if they had cut him before last Sunday would have actually save the Skins a half Mil. this year
Sure it would push $7.1M into the dead cap for 2008 but with Wynn and AA coming off the books it's almost a wash.

If they didn't want him here he wouldn't be here and his contract is little more than a speed bump if the wanted to run him out of Redskin Park.

No, no, 1nik, you've got it all wrong. You see, JLC says that we'll forget about Wade, and he stated clearly that if it wasn't for the cap issues Lloyd would have been cut by now. I think you missed his argument. . . ;)

Yeah they're about $4.5M under right now, being $5M under would really screw them up. Who's this Wade guy? :o

As a matter of fact, I covered a Redskins mini camp in 2004, and no one there besides the fan site guys and Jody Foldesy even watched the practice. They stood around complaining that fan sites were there.

Plus, as paranoid a bunch as NFL coaches are, I can't imagine access to game tapes is something that can be easily obtained, though I could be 100% wrong about that. And that folks is how you hedge a bet.

FYI, theres a Lloyd interview on Redskins.com.

The JC interview is interesting too. Especially how he talks about the INT in the end zone.

I dunno...there seems to be a rift if you ask me.

He may get a few more shots as the season wears on, but at this point Lloyd is definitely in a steep uphill battle to save even a roster spot.
