I must add that nobody should ever complain about anything that does not exist
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Looks like we're not gonna go for this guy, otherwise we probably would've heard something by now. All I'm saying is it deserves consideration and if they haven't brought it up then they're not doing their jobs especially Mr. Buldging eyeballs.
Personally I think that if you are going to spend allot of money on a player it should be on the offensive line. If you are going to build a team you should start at the offensive line. If you have a dominate o-line then it will make your qb,rb,wr, and your whole D better. It's not a flashy position but it will win you the big games.
I will take him, next year when we have more cap room. I am sure he will play for the Steelers this year, everybody talks about how professional he is, therefore, he is expected to finish his contract....
Moves like this is exactly why our team sucked throughout the 90's and...........until Gibbs came back. If we trade for this guy then Todd Wade will be pissed and we'll have to trade him! You do know that he only signed with us only after we promised him a starting job at the left guard position AND OUR COACHES HAD TO TALK HIM INTO MAKING THE SWITCH!!! With him on our team we now have a very good back up at tackle and a very good guard, WHO KNOWS THE SYSTEM. Pissing him off would be stupid!
We don't need this Faneca guy! We already got a really good left guard and a really good back up to the tackle position not to mention Lefotu doing a good job in NFL Europa...............Football is a team sport and it takes a team to win consistently. You can't get superstars at every position, but you can get chemistry at every position. The last thing we need to do now is screw that up.
We don't need this Faneca guy! We already got a really good left guard
Todd Wade hasn't played left guard at all that I am aware of and you're calling him a really good left guard, first of all he had one good game against N.O. last year in a contract year for him, one good game does not a good left guard make. Faneca is a 10, he would make our O-Line possibly the best in football in a division with ttit who has more 6'6 pass rushers than they do sense, not to mention umenyora and strahan and kearse and takeo spikes, this would fill a position of need with a pereniall pro-bowler and pair him next to a pereniall pro-bowler. If you can't see the sense in trading for this guy even if it costs us a 2nd rounder then I wanna hear what you post when Todd is getting b^% slapped and treated like a redheaded stepchild and campbell gets his backside crushed. I wanna know what you'll say when samuels and portis blame Todd like they blamed dock for not being able to pull, portis said "most of the time when dock pulls he falls over" who do you think todd wade is randy freakin thomas, no he's a 40 year old white guy with a nice frame but no exp. at LG. Think about it! I get the feeling our FO hasn't even discussed Faneca, I hope I'm wrong. Faneca would not make us worse and moves like getting an all pro are not why we sucked in the 90's, we sucked in the 90's because our coach was norv turner and our qb's were named shuler, frerotte, george, hostetler, johnson, and the list goes on.
This quote alone is worth the price of admission. You do realize, don't you, that "this Faneca guy" is not only the best OG in the league, but arguably one of the 5 best players at any position in the game. He is a monster.
I've voiced my opinion that we can't afford him... but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to see him in B&G. If Wade got pissed about it, well, sorry about that, dude.

IF this is true..... and only if...... , ANY team in the league that needs help at the left OG spot, or even at right OG for that matter and doesn't take this guy into consideration - even for a draft pick - needs to stay at the bottom of the league in total wins. because the teams who wouldn't make a run at this guy have NO talent/scouting/drafting dept whatsoever, imo. total monster. if anyone here thinks wade is on another level than dockery, then consider the fact that faneca would be on another PLANET.
i've been happy with our off season other than DL as always, but i would absolutely LOVE for this big splash to happen.

I see you guys point, but I don't agree with it. Faneca is not all that! I mean, he's not worth a first day pick, $50 million contract, and a spot on this team. We have a good player at that position already. If you want to spend all that do it at Corner or on the Defensive Line. WE DON'T NEED IT ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE!
And by the way Hailskins.............We overpayed for the strong safety position last year after letting go of a very capable starter who was cheap too. How much good did that do us? Do you really want to do the same thing this year at the guard position?

1. He IS all that
2. You have no idea what it would take to get him. The Steelers will likely lose him next year to FA... they may wish to get what they can...
3. He would certainly be expensive... no doubt
4. Not worthy of a spot on this team? Are you nuts?
5. A good player there already? Well, we have a decent OT who has conceded to move inside. You have no idea how good an OG he is... he hasn't done it.
6. You NEVER go wrong picking up an excellent offensive lineman. NEVER.
The reason we shouldn't do it is because we can't afford it. No other reason. That does not warrant your lack of respect for this player.

I hope we can get him but I also hope that we do not give up a draft pick for him - IMO, we do not need to make any moves for any position that involve any draft picks - NONE

Yeah. That's the only reason. He would improve any team he joined. ANY team.
clearly if we could make it happen we should BUT we cant.. we arent giving up the picks and if we didnt want to sign Dock to that money why would we go right out and sign Faneca to it? and YES I know hes better then Dock but thats not the point.. theres no way we could make it happen but for those who say we shouldnt even if we could you all are smoking something.. He would be a monster for us
It baffles me..............why some people want to bring in a superstar at every position even when we already have that position filled with a above average player.
And maybe archuleta was a bad example. I'll go back a little bit...........We had a future hall of fame Cornerback and arguably a future hall of fame return guy. So what do we do? We overpay for a Cornerback/ return guy that was considered by some to be the best in the game. To quote some people "He would take the opposing team's number one reciever out of the game". And then we place those two guys on the bench. I just can't say his name, but how much good did that guy do us? I honestly blocked alot of that out of my memory so please refresh it.
