Faneca

Post by Gibbs4Life »

Um, I just flipped on NFL Network and it said Alan Faneca of the Steelers is demanding a trade. Solomon Wilcox called him "the best Left Guard in Football" I think you know where I'm going with this...

The best Left Guard in football wants a trade, he's been to 6 Pro Bowls, and won SB's. I gotta say it's perfect we should make a play for this guy, we need a LG.

I have heard that the Ravens are chomping at the bit to make a trade for him, but I doubt that the Steelers would let him go to a divisonal rival.

I would love to see him as a Skin.

He and Randel El are buddys, SO ANTWAN! GET ON THIS DUDE!! TALK TO COACH!!!

He is one of the 5 best players in football (IMO), and should be paid. This is one of those occasions when it really isn't just that he not be able to renegotiate. We've seen many journeyman OG's getting the big bucks... why not the best OG in the game?

He needs to get paid... and, I don't think the Redskins can afford to do it, right now. So, unless there is more magic up Danny boy's sleeve, don't expect to see him in B&G. (But, man, this guy would make our O-line absolutely dominant.)

Careful, this kind of talk is what causes us to give away draft picks

This guy wants a big payday. We are talking about Steve Hutchinson type money. Can we really afford to pay this guy? Also what do we have to give up to get him?

Everyone is after the big payday now, and somehow we always seem to be listed as interested. I don't think Hutchinson is worth Hutchinson money, and surely none of these other guys. We don't need a Pro Bowler at every position to be successful. I say pass on him and keep our draft picks.

I agree on all points... the difference is, this guy actually deserves Hutchinson type money. He would truly push this offense over the hump...

I don't see that we can afford what it would cost to get him.

I'm not doubting his ability. Pittsburg built their line to run the ball, and that is what we do. He would be a good fit, but too expensive. They'll be others come available hopefully closer to our price range

I think that the Redskins should look at him. The guy for 9 years has played his butt off and gave his all and never once complained. with all these lineman this year getting hugh contracts that haven't proven anything. Look at Derick Dockery with the Bills. All the other lineman that got hugh contacts in this offseason has never seen the Probowl, but Faneca has played 9 years and has made the probowl 6 times and his contract his crap. He deserves to get paid. I say pay the man. Cause if the Steelers won't I know the Redskins will

Careful, this kind of talk is what causes us to give away draft picks

Pay attention to our division (which by the way we finished dead last in) WE NEED A DOMINANT O-LINE, NOT GOOD, DOMINANT, just to survive

How about we give Pitt a 3rd and Shawn Springs? Maybe even a 2nd and Springs, listen Todd Wade couldn't carry faneca's jock, not that he'd want to, I'm just saying right now we have no proven LG and the best in the game wants a trade, what do we pay Vinny for? If it's important enough to do and I think it is because it's oline and we want to be a running team, then we do have the ability to make it happen. Even if it does mean we lose Springs Daniels Lloyd whoever, really as long as we have our 5 core signed then we could lose ne one else and be ok...

1. Portis
2. Cooley
3. Moss
4. S. Taylor
5. M. Washington

I agree I am happy with what we got. But I gotta say that hutch is younger than faneca so that is why he has a big payday. Faneca is older now which is a good reason why he might not get as much on the market.

Like I said I am happy with drafting and developing our own players. 8)

There is absolutely nothing wrong wth what we have on the o-line now. The only holes we had were depth and left guard. OK, Faneca is a super left guard, but we can certainly get by with what we have at that spot. With Wade, Fabini, Tucker and Pucillo, we have plenty of experienced players who will serve us well (although I doubt they'll all make the roster). We also have Lefotu starting in NFL Europa at the moment, and I'm sure he'll get a long look in camp.

Wouldn't work. We would still get a big cap hit w/ Spings and then still have to pay an enormous amount to sign Faneca. Not worth it.

Oops! I just had to defend the guy. Everyone piles on him after last season. I've seen alot of him before the Skins and he's a true gamer and the fans will learn that this season w/ JC.

Watched him at JC's first game in Tampa. Dropped a huge opening bomb in the game. Then came back in the 4thQ when we were driving, jumped to get a high ball, defender cuts his legs out and Lloyd landed backwards on his HEAD. Almost killed him and he got back in the game. He's got the speed, got the skills, got the guts...now he's got a QB...Sky's the Limit!

I hope everyone that wants this trade won't complain if we only have 1 first-day draft pick, and no picks from rounds 2-4, next year.

We didn't have any picks in any of those rounds the last two years.
