They did nothing to improve anything by drafting him. What good does a physical safety do you if you can't get to the qb and he has all day to throw. They are completely ignorant to anything that is wrong with them, their team, or their philosophies.
Someone might want to figure out WHAT the TEAM's philosophies and directions are before making a jugdement on this pick.
The guy that runs the team has spoke highly of the TWO DL drafted last year and how they have impressed this off-season. This may not justify drafting a safety but it explains not drafting D Line or bringing anyone in during free agency. If anyone knows why this Defense didn't click last year I'd think it would be the guys that run it.
They were DT's, not DE's, and late round ones at that. PASS RUSH. TEAM RECORD LOW FOR SACKS. TWO SAFETIES WHO CANT COVER AGAINST A QB WITH ALL DAY TO THROW. ANY GAME LAST YEAR. REGGIE WILLIAMS. TERRY GLENN.DONTE STALLWORTH. EVERYBODY ELSE WHO BURNT THEM, IM FORGETTING SOME. Horrrrrrrrible.
So I take it you wanted Jamal Anderson?? Ever heard of Erasmus James....? Courtney Brown? Just because you take a D end in the top 10 does NOT mean they will fill your void. Landry was a safe...no miss pick. He can cover, tackle, blitz...why would you pass on the best overall player just to gamble on the SECOND rated D-End. Some people even had Carriker rated above him....so you would pass on someone who is likely the next Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins, for a guy who isn't even the best pass rusher in the draft??
You would make more sense if the draft was full of All American D-Ends...it just wasn't
