Is it an English plane or an African plane? Is it carrying a coconut?

Clearly not an English plane... most of those are made in France, now... scarey.

God, I hope so. That'd mean we could draft additional copies of Samuels and Bailey, plus, pick up picks in the 2nd, third, and fourth rounds.

OF COURSE IT WILL TAKE OFF. No if, ands, or buts about it.

Jet planes create forward movement via the thrust of jet engines. That thrust will create the exact same acceleration regardless of whether the surface under the wheels is moving or not.

Just picture yourself on a treadmill. Strap a jet engine to your but. I don't care how fast that treadmill is turning backwards...you will move forward, I promise.

Thanks for the laugh though.

The question is, how will the plane generate lift? The engines suck the plane forward through the air which flows over the wings for lift.

In this situation the engines are sucking but the plane isn't moving forward so there doesn't seem to be a way for the air to move over the wings to generate lift.

CLL,
The whole point is, there is no early way any treadmill could prevent a jet from moving forward. The thing can spin at light speed if it wants, the plane will still move forward (or the wheel beering will lock up and the tires will shread nad the plane will be thrown backwards - at light speed no less).
The thing will fly! Anyone that knows anything about aircraft will come to the same conclusion; the treadmill can't keep the plane stationary!

Mar 26, 2007
Texas A&M University

CLL discovers new form of aircraft propulsion.

In an interview with this reporter, Prof. CLL opined "with this new concept, the costs of air transportation can be dramatically reduced, and our dependence on foreign oil slashed. I have also discovered the suckiest mechanism on earth, which can be easily tapped for this purpose. The harnessing of Dallas Cowboys as propulsion devices should be relatively easy, and we can use as many as we need. I have calculated that it would require only 2 Cowboys (especially sucky Cowboys, such as Michael Irvin, and Terrell Owens , for example) could get a fully loaded 747 airborne, at the cost of 4 cans of B&M baked beans for a 7 hour flight. Philadelphia Eagles or NY Giants would also serve well for this purpose"

Fabulous! Unfortunately, CLL, it is thrust that moves an aircraft forward, not suckiness.

At the speed of light the treadmill itself will become light and time will stop. See Einstein. Therefore, the plane will be trying to take off from what has become a timeless treadmill. Since speed itself is dependent on distance and time, the plane's speed will be zero. In fact, all motion is probably impossibe in timeless zones, such as heaven. Which, of course, eliminates the possiblility of after-life sex as we many have imagined it.i

Some of us imagine "during-life" sex, too.
It's probably a more constructive way to spend time.
I do agree, though, that the forward motion would be limited to the treadmill.
