Ant you dont know much about much do you. If by trading for Henson we were able to avoid him going in the draft as well as get him to a long term contract for only about 3.8 million.

I wasn't talking about contract size! IF a team wanted him, they would want to "avoid" him from becomimg a free-agent, JUST like Dallas avoided DH from going to the draft. No need to be insulting, pal! If you knew anything, you wouldn't be a Cowboy fan!

I would tend to agree with Bosshog (and others). The Redskins couldn't have sent a stronger message to the league than the way they dealt with Trotter (and the Johnson situation). ESPN reported how the Saints offer to Johnson pretty much eats up every bit of the Skins remaining cap room this season which all but guarantees someone gets cut.

Obviously Trotter is the guy to go and I think it would be nuts for any team to pay for something they can get for free.

Gibbs saying the Redskins were going in another direction and Trotter being asked to seek a trade on his own spells the end for him in Washington.
How bout them Cowboys!

I was going to start a new thread about this situation and then I saw this one. I agree that any team that is interested could very well wait until we cut him and then get in a bidding war with other teams, but would it be worth it for someone to say, "Here's a 4th rounder, we'll take him off of your hands"? They won't have to assume his huge contract if they redo it and the 'Skins take the cap hit. Like someone said earlier, it's like the Keyshawn scenario -- if you want him badly enough you'll trade for him just to ensure that you actually get him on your team. And at this point I'm sure the 'Skins would take a 4th rounder or later just to get another pick. Beggars can't be choosers. The cap hit will hurt, but it was going to happen sooner or later. Honestly, sooner is better than later. We have enough "later" to worry about in future years.
