What do you think we will get for him. I am hoping we get a solid pick were we could get a good DT. Pair him up with Griffin. Thats some big monsters up the middle for a long time.

Read my lips NO ONE WILL TRADE YOU GUYS ANYTHING FOR HIM....By doing what the skins did, they have basically told the league they are going to cut him. So now any team that wants him is going to wait. The skins showed their hand to early no everyone will call there bluff. The guy was a knuckle head in philly, he had a degenerative knee condition and he blew his knee out the first year IN Dc and then the second year he was out of position(as well as Arrington).

You guys will let him go after june 1.........Stop dreaming of a trade

same thing with Brunell and a number of others in the past... I agree... there is a chance, maybe 50/50 that we can get a trade. I don't know that it will happen for sure... but I can hope :)

I don't know if we will get a second rounder for him - maybe conditional if we do

We might get something, but It won't be a high draft pick.

Let's not forget Drew Henson! He was going to be back in the Draft this year, but Dallas traded a pick with Houston. If someone wants him (that bad), they are not going to want him to be available to the other 31 teams.

I think we can get something good for him provided Jerry develops amnesia when Bill comes to a sudden stop and they have to remove that ole Arkie's head from Puscells rectum!!

Let me summarize

Expensive + Not a good player + A history of injuries + We are going to cut him anyways = We arent getting jack for him.

How is he not a good player? He made the pro bowl a couple times in Philly, was doing just fine until he blew out his knee last year, and bounced back from a major injury this season and lead the team in tackles and really came on towards the end of the season. His history of injuries is only one injury and he showed he could rebound from a really bad injury. His only flaw is that he's expensive but hes worth it in my opinion. I personally think this is a stupid move by the Skins, unless we can get a high draft pick/good player for him.

How Trotter ever made the Pro Bowl is a mystery to me. Most of his tackles were of the piling on variety and our run defense was nothing to write home about.

I think Trotter had the team lead in tackles with about 126. So saying he isn't good has no substance to it. He went to the Pro Bowl a coupld of years ago, too.

But I do agree with everyone who says his contract is way too large.

His history of knee injuries goes back to college. After games in Philly he could be found covered in ice to keep the swelling down.

This is just a retarded cap move, I have said it so many times that i can't repeat it all anymore.

By ostensibly ostracizing him from the team by 'disinviting' him to camp, you virtually guarantee that you HAVE to cut him. Why would a team give up a draft pick... OBVIOUSLY he isn't going to be playing for the Redskins AND his new team would have to take on the backloaded end of the contract at salaries of 4.5M (2004), 5M (2005), 6.5M (2006), 7.5M (2007). Nobody will take on that contract and give up a pick when they know that the Skins will now cut him if they find no suitors.

And now you have no MLB and your paying him 6M in cap over the next two years (if we cut him after June 1).

Stupid.

I honestly think that this has NOTHING to do with ability and it is all about attitude. JT was one of the accused 'loose cannons'. But we're going to pay heavily in cap world for the decision.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Really? I always thought he had a great attitude, or at least sounded good in his interviews. I hope this works out, but I'm skeptical. He's not the same Pro Bowl player he was a few years a go, but I had hoped he would be more comfortable with his knee this season. I also don't think Mitchell is a great solution to the middle linebacker spot. Oh well...

I hope this is all a ploy just to see what we can get for Trotter. I hope no team bites or we get a pass rusher. I wonder who is deep on their roster with D-line help :?:

You'll be surprised. K-Mitch is better than you (or a lot of other people) think.

He madet he pro bowl in Philly, and he was a force there. We never played a defense that suited his strenghts (playing downhill) here in D.C. I like him too but there's a business side to these things.

I unfortunately don't see us getting anything for him. We have just told the NFL that he's getting cut, so a team could always wait. However, if there's someone willing to take a chance and Trotter is willing to rework his contract for him then maybe we'll get lucky.

How many teams are out there that need somenoe like Trotter? Maybe Philly (need some bulk at LB) and I don't see them giving us a draft pick. But there's no team desperate for him, so let's just hope for luck.

Maybe, maybe not. He's a great backup (and I love him in that role), but I'm just not sure he can be the man for 16 games...

He was a mighty gust of wind that was more often than not out of position.
