Nick Novak
Listen, like most other Redskins fans, I became huge fan of Nick Novak after the Cowboys win.
Looking at what the kid has actually done as a kicker thus far, however, has not been very impressive.
So far, he has converted just 3-of-7 field goal attempts this season, missing wide-right on all too many of them.
What do y'all think? Should the Skins continue to stick by Novak and let's just see what happens....or should the Skins be on the market for yet another kicker?

He's being set up to fail by the coaching staff. Look at his miss yesterday: they had him kicking a 48yd. FG attempt (a career high for him had he made it!!) on a rainy, blustery day with poor (slippery) field conditions because the coaching staff had no faith in Brunell to convert the first down. Few kickers would've made a 48 yarder in such conditions. Philly never asked Akers to kick from 40+ yesterday. I'm not ready to dump Novak yet.

I think you misunderstood me. I was talking about during this upcoming offseason. I was also talking about how our FO (sarcastically) need a big name to sign someone.
Now I do have a big issue with how this situation was NOT addressed last offseason. Gibbs and company KNEW Hall wasn't able to kick off for us. If he can't kick off then that means he's not 100% They went into the season with a questionable kicker and a questionable punter. I mean, how can that be overlooked when the Skins love to get tons of people via F/A?

His lack of leg strength really worries me. His kickoffs usually land around the 15 or 20 and that's pretty pathetic. I agree 100% with CLL. The kicking and punting situations should've been addressed in the offseason. Unfortunately the front office was too busy chasing after AA and Carter.

Are you serious? Thats the same crap that is screwing us this year. As soon as we start losing games do to missed FG's you'll complain.

I'm telling you, we should draft Mason Crosby, the Kicker from Colorado in the FIRST ROUND.
Everyone always laugh when you say we should get a kicker in the 1st Round, but think about how many games are decided by 3 points or less.
And Crosby is crazy clutch and consitently nails 60 Yarders.
I seriously woud be thrilled if the Skins got him in the first Round.

Nope.... I am man enough to say that I got that one wrong. I think that you missed the point and that is if we handle our business on the offense and get the defense back to where it was a year ago, it is less likely to catch up to us. But if they can draft or find another kicker better than Novak, more power to them and good luck...

I didnt miss it. I saw that big IF in your statement. How about we have a viable kicker and handle our business?

Well everything is a big IF in this league. Okay, we sign a true kicker and he get's injured on the kick-off. Then what? There ain't nothing guaranteed in this league. This league only has maybe 3-4 quality kickers in it anyway.

Novak sucks. Look, he gets props for a major game-winner - but even that kick slowed my heart rate to 10 bpm. Why is it so hard to get a reliable kicker these days? You don't have to be able to make the 60+ yarder IMO, but anything less than 40 should go in 95% of the time.
Time to look elsewhere. It's only a matter of time before he misses a kick in the final seconds - and we lose by a point or two.

Dude you're reaching. A bird could poop on his shoe and cus it to shank too.

All we can do is get the best players for the team and that put us in a position to win. Not having a good kicker puts is in a position to lose. We can control what we can, why not control what you can?

they should look at connor hughes. the kicker out of UVA , was up for the Groza Award since his sophomore season, absolutely pinpoint deadly kicker. not the strongest leg in the world, but just as good as gostkowski the Pat kicker. I watched them go toe to toe earlier last spring. No one has picked him up yet suprisingly, i wishi they would give him a look
yup, your right. get rid of him at the end of the season--->GET A GM--->get a kicker.......IN THE DRAFT!!!!!SkinzCanes wrote:His lack of leg strength really worries me. it is what it is
We need to find a legitimate kicker in the offseason.
Novak is a good story and he came through against Dallas, but does anyone really feel comfortable with him on anything over 45 yards?
I absolutely do not.
