He was considered the best at his craft when he was in the league... history bore out that the offensive line that he played for was one of the best in history... if you don't put Jake in, how does ANY offensive lineman deserve to get in?

Boss,
I must admit I laugh every time I read someone that writes something that sounds like their kissing butt, but let me pucker up.
What you wrote about Big Jake is right on (the same could be said for Grimm) I persnonally don't think Anthony Munoz was any better than big #66. Gibbs had a bunch of good players on his team the first time around and it is time to recognize the truely great ones: Jacoby, Grimm, Monk, Clark (better than Irvin), and Green (still has a few more years). Players like Donny Warren and Jeff Bostic in my mind are more HOF worthy than Joey T. (or Swann and Stallworth for that matter).

Ugh. Those guys should so not be in the Hall. They make Monk's exclusion that much harder to swallow.

Well I'm not judging Theismann's induction at all, but I'm just curious... if you don't know anything about his NFL career, and your two points relate to his career after football, and the way he ended his career, what bearing does that have on whether or not his career was HOF worthy? And what makes it laughable? he was nominated in the first place, that makes it not laughable doesn't it? Someone thought he was worthy of at least some consideration.

It has the same amount of worthiness to do with the HOF induction as Irvin's lack of HOF induction that everyone seems to ignore. It also carries the same weight as Lawrence Taylor's off-field issues as well. So what's the diffrence between those two and Thiesman? LT and Irvin's NFL Careers were well known because of thier high calibur. Because I don't know anything about Thiesman's career is the reason why he is one of the weaker candidates.

Before anyone busts me on it again. Yes I think Monk should make it in as well as Jacoby.

When will Daryl Green be eligable? Call me retarded but I can't remember how long you have to be out of football to qualify.

You have to be out of the game five years for eligibility.
Amazingly, I was able to get that out to you without calling you a retard, despite your permission. :)

Old timers will understand.

What? What about as a kicker?

Sorry, never was a kicker for the skins, but . . .

in 1974 he returned 15 punts for a 10.5 yard average - longest was 44 yards.

He was willing to do anything to get in the game - gotta love that.

Most folks I know stopped liking Joe when he left the wife and kids for Cathy Lee Crosby - who then dumped him after a short fling.
