Well, I think if we want to improve our WR corps, we should trade Carlos Rogers for Mike Williams ...

I don't think any of us would complement Santana the best...

I'd still prefer Randle El, but Jurevicous is my second chioce. I know Joe would give us a possession guy, but Randle El gives us versatility and is far younger.

Why? Because M. Williams has done so well in the league?

I've always liked jerevicous he comes up with really big plays when he needs to. I would be extemely happy to see him in burgundy and gold next year.

although signing jurevicious would be great for the team, i can honestly say that i dont think he's the guy the redskins need to be a unquestionably legit threat to the top 2 or 3 teams in the afc....

My 2 cents

I like Jurevicius (or however he spells his name), but is he fast enough?

Yes, you're right...I keep wishing for another Art Monk. Unrealistic. But Jurevicius seems more like a pass-catching H-back.

Main question: is he fast enough to shake a defender and draw coverage from Moss?

If he doesn't draw coverage from Moss, He'll keep the chains moving for us; however, if Randle El didn't darw some saftey help he could really burn a guy in man-man coverage.

A nice #3, possession receiver, but Wayne is what we really need!

No way we go after Wayne, we don't need him. We already have a number 1 in Moss, we need a complimentary WR!

My fellow brethren, I hate to be the bearer of bad news(God knows I hate it)but if the CBA doesn't proceed, we are in a hell of a bind. Even if we do get our high profile players to renegotiate contracts, with the 30% rule and etc., heading into an uncapped year, we might be kind of strapped.
I'm not quite sure but, '07 might look pretty cool.

Jerevicious is on the end of his career. Although we probably can't afford him, we need someone younger and faster like El. Patten is alreedy in his 30's, and Thrash is geting up there in football years as well.

I don't want Joey J. He has been good lately but we need someone a little younger. I hope we don't sign him unless it is a #3 receiver. We still don't know how Patten is going to come back but I think he needs to be the #3 guy and we get a solid #2 guy. I don't think Joey J is that guy.

Nice to see your back Floridaskinsfan  haven't seen you in a while. Your right about JJ, I said the same thing earlier, to old and his best years are behind him.

I think right now we are a now or never team. This team is being assembled to win now and allow Campbell to have some veterans around him. 2 years max with Joe still at the helm. So JJ is the best option. We did not have a Wr that could shake coverage against Seattle. We need someone who can catch the ball from anywhere. PLus we can afford him.

I wouldn't call us a "win now" team. We're definately a lot younger/diverse than we were when we definately had a "win now" attidue. I think we have a decent mix of young/old/inbetween.

Yes, Chris we are not a win it all right now team. we have a bunch of young guys and vets. Thats what it takes to win now and to build for the future. We have a team that can be great for a number of years and if they are smart about it they can keep the winning tradition going this time around. Synder learned from his mistake back in the late 90's buying old players to win right away.

joe jurevicius seems like a good fit

Post by old-timer »

we'll be having fits with the salary cap this year. We need cheap, short term solutions. Going forward, Gibbs will fix the cap mess and then he can put in place llong term solutions. This year we want to at least make it to the NFC Championship and a good, tough, inexpensive, possession receiver like Jurevicius fills the bill. Ditto for a pass-rushing DE. We need a specialist who is effective, and regardless of how short his career is likely to be here, it's all we can afford. One of Gibb's special talents is to find the player with just the right fit for his needs, a player that everyone else passes on because of some major flaw.

Sounds like a joke, should be a joke; but I'm listening to a lot of suggestions that are no better than this one. Face it, Patten was not an upgrade over Gardner; Thrash and Taylor are utterly incapable of putting up Gardner numbers; so, probably, is JJ.
If we can't do considerably better than JJ, Patten, etc. we ought to go back to Gardner at the league minimum and save some cap dollars.

Bringing Gardner back would be slightly less stupid than Philly bringing back TO.

Yeah but if we are going to rob the Jets again I would consider bringing back LC (after he has reworked his contract.
