not enough people to do it right. We should reschedule and get more dependable people to commit.

I'm hoping that BH is ok, this is not at all like him. He's not like me he's typically on time and responsible.

You are more then welcome to bow out for a very nominal fee. ;-)

I know that doing a timed draft would be great, but why is it necessary?

Couldn't we just have a draft in order but without a time limit? That way we don't have to worry about getting 25 people on line at the same time?

It could be that Boss doesn't want hours of cleaning up after people who don't listen to the order. If he times it he only has to be here cleaning up at a set time. Of course I could be wrong, I'm not tech guru or anything.

Perhaps he could get one of the other mods to be responsible for that one thread. I'm not opposed to a timed draft, but I just don't think it will ever get off the ground.

I have eve's this week...so most times between 2-11 p.m. will work, unless I'm controlling aircraft. If the latter is the case, the Navy extends its apologies in advance...

Ah well, I guess it isn't going to go down. I have the 32nd overall pick so I guess I'm outta here for now.

I will check back in just in case it gets started.

Sorry guys... something came up last minute... of course... why you need me here to say 'go'... I don't know... you could have just started a thread and ran with it.

Since I also got PM's from a half dozen of you TODAY saying you couldn't make it... there would have likely been too many holes to fill. You guys can sort it out amongst yourselves when you want to re-schedule it for... this really has nothing to do with me.

I scheduled it for you... I filled the slots for you... all you have to do is show up for a little while and make your pick... it's up to you guys if you want to actually DO it.

I was here a little late but in plenty of time to make my pick if the draft had actually occured. Who is available to make this happen at 8 pm this evening?

Just throwing this out there and will need to run this past BH 1st….

The format for the Mock Draft has been set, and the only thing missing is most of the participants and someone to unlock the thread and watch the clock.

I haven’t been around as much lately but…. I’ll be around during the latter part of this week. After re-reading this thread most selectors that showed up liked the 8pm start so …..
Let’s say on Thursday night a around 7:55 pm …

1.Houston Texans - air hog 2. New Orleans Saints - andyjens89 3. Tennessee Titans - CLL 4. New York Jets - Cooley47 5. Green Bay Packers - Smithian 6. Oakland Raiders* - sch1977 7. San Francisco 49ers* - ea7649 8. Buffalo Bills - Hogfather 9. Detroit Lions - thaiphoon 10. Arizona Cardinals - gay4pacman

… be ready to pick starting at 8PM… Post in this thread that you are ready to begin.

Each team can PM their selection to me and I’ll “quote” it in the Mock Draft thread ( no clean up if I’m the only one posting but the quote will show who made the pick.) … If you don’t know how to use the PM feature --- today’s only Monday.

Because thaiphoon won’t be around for the draft he can PM me his choice in advance (top 9 in order of choice and I’ll post it for you….

To accommodate some of you I’ll extend the time to 10 minutes per team, this means around 9:30 pm the top ten will be finish and ….

11. St. Louis Rams - Redskins4Life 12. Cleveland Browns - Fios 13. Baltimore Ravens - warmother 14. Philadelphia Eagles - BadgerKing 15. Atlanta Falcons - HEROHAMO 16. Miami Dolphins - chaddukes 17. Minnesota Vikings - NikiH 18. Dallas Cowboys - Sir Monk 19. San Diego Chargers - fredp45

….should be ready to go, this will take us to 11 pm., barring any trades. (is there a format for trades?)

We can restart on Friday at 8 pm with these posters lined up to pick…

20. Kansas City Chiefs - redskingush 21. New England Patriots - ChrisHanburger 22. Denver Broncos (Was.) - skinsfan301 23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - wormer 24. Cincinnati Bengals - CPallDAY08 25. New York Giants - JSPB22 26. Chicago Bears - frankcal20 27. Carolina Panthers - skinsfan1 28. Jacksonville Jaguars - skins74 29. Denver Broncos - jlanders3 30. Indianapolis Colts - chaddukes 31. Seattle Seahawks - andyjens89 32. Pittsburgh Steelers - The Hogster

And be done before 10.

This way we aren’t trying to get everyone here all at once and if I screw something up you can always appeal to Boss.

I still have to clear this with BH but let me know if this is workable for those involved

Boss is right, he didn't really even have to show up.

However, 1/2 of the people who did need to be here, weren't

But I'm all in for a re-schedule, even though I already spoiled the surprise of the first pick  But I guess it wsa pretty obvious Harry Sheboobie was going #1 anyways...

I'm going to once again take a stand for an untimed round. Just open the thread, let people select, if they repond out of turn delete thier post. If this isn't of interest to folks, thats OK and I'll let it go.

This is why I hate doing these things... people ALWAYS don't show up... and I know they're not going to when I give everyone the opportunity to say WHEN they would like to do it and they don't.

I apologize for not being able to make it, but as I already stated... I really don't need to be, but I apologize for not making it clear that since I'm not picking... you COULD go ahead without me.

Chad... I have no problem with an untimed draft... the ONLY problem with it is that it then tends to take days and days to finish it.

having said that, if our alternative is always going to be to re-schedule it that far in advance... then what's the difference?

So... here's what we are going to do... at least to get the first online mock draft out of the way in quich fashion... we'll tweak the format based on the initial run...

The draft WILL start tonight at 8pm... we may as well schedule a start time. The draft WILL go in increments of 5 minutes... meaning... if you're here... then you'll be required to make your pick in the 5 minutes... who knows how far we will get before we have to go the 'extended format'.... which is what we will do... when we reach a point in the draft where the person picking is not present... and has not provided a pick for their position that is still available... then we will be forced to go to the 'post as you feel like it format'.

But I think that it's important that we set a time limit on this still... there's no point in bogging down a draft for days because someone had something come up that keeps them away for an extended period. I vote that we make each 'time window' a time in the day... so... if the draft bogs down at pick #15 tonight... then i think that person should only have until 9am tomorrow morning to make that pick. You've all signed up to do it, so that shouldn't be too impositional. IF the person doesn't make the pick by 9am, then either the person who preceeded the selection, or the person following the selection, will be free to make the pick FOR them come 9am. Then I think we should have a mandatory 12pm pick, a 4pm pick, a 6pm pick, an 8pm pick, a 10 pm pick... and then carry through again to the next morning at 9am.

This would give us a minimum of 6 picks per day and at ANY point can someone just make their pick and not wait for the deadline... so if pick #15 is made at 9am, and pick #16 at 12pm... but then 17-22 all make their picks in quick succession... we just put whoever's next at 23 on the next deadline time.

This will only minimize the chaos, but at least it will give some form and structure and prevent us for bogging down for really extended times. With good luck... it might actually only take a few days in this manner.

What do you think?

Either way is fine with me. I have the 32nd overall pick anyways so I would prefer the timed way, but if not, this is cool too.
