What To Do With Dockery?

The O-line still intrigues me. Its a position where older guys have an advantage....and yet they play every snap on offense. It doesn't seem to make sense to me. On the d-line its completely the opposite. Young guys usually make an impact quickly, and they are rotated to keep them fresh. They play fewer snaps yet seem more likely to get injured.

Its really pretty rare that you see an o-line player with less that 3 years make an impact. There are a few, but not many.

Dockery is stable, cheap, durable, and apparently Buges likes him. That works for me. If Brian Waters wants to come here and play I'll happily accept him, but otherwise I'm happy with Dock starting. We do however need to look at depth on the line. Ray Brown was a big loss.

I agree. Given the cap situation, I think the key to our team's success is how well the low-profile guys like Dockery do. I don't want Dockery to become another Pro-Bowl guard because if he gets that good, we will have to pay him a Pro Bowl guard's salary. We simply cannot afford to pay all the guys on the line a Pro Bowl salary and still have any money left over to pay Brunell, Portis and Moss, and whoever will become our #2 WR . . . not to mention the defense. What we really need are more solid underrated guys who are good enough to start and who cost less than $1 million per year.

I don't think Dock's the problem. Samuels is the weak link on the line, I think. I don't know if it was just a health issue at the end, but he looked awful, and overall has not had a very good year. He misses blocks all the time, and makes mediocre DEs look like pro bowlers. This is how I'd rate the line:
1) Thomas
2) Jansen
3) Dockery
4) Rabach
5) Samuels

Yeah, Rabach just was a bit out of place from time to time and had a habit of holding but i think with a year under his belt and with Joe Buges helping him out, they will do a lot better next year.

I would agree not sure about Chris...Winstrom and Rice had there way with him in the play..Jared Allen earlier in the season...and he makes the ProBowl and Randy Thomas doesn't??

I don't think Doc will be going anywhere next year. "Dockery has shown impressive strides under offensive line guru Joe Bugel, who consistently calls Dockery the Redskins lineman with the most potential." from redskins.com.

I don't think so, if Buges thinks he can perform, I think he has and will. If anyone was weak on the left side it was Samuels. Dockery will be here next year, trust me.

LOL, nice one Jake. Personally I don't want any UVA guys anyway. If we did have a 1st rounder though, why get an O-lineman. We NEED a WR, and could really use an upgrade at de and te.

Samuels does seem over rated, but hey, he keeps making the Pro Bowl. Players and coaches who play against him and study his film all think he's a stud.

We all know that it's a rarity that any Skins get any recognition, so maybe we are just being overly critical on him.

Both he and Jansen took their lumps this year: Kansas City, the first NY game, and the first Tampa game come to mind.
