Rose Bowl

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

I've been saying how overrated USC is and Bush.

HE HAS BEEN PLAYING THE PAC-10!!!!

He is a great athlete, but when he is playing for the Texans he is going to suck.

SkinsFanInHawai'i wrote:If he was in the SEC, you wouldn't be hearing any of this Reggie Bush sweepstakes.

Was Marshall Faulk overrated playing at Fresno State?

Or Landanian Tomlinson coming out of TCU?

You can find great athletes at any level. And to dismiss them b/c of the level of competition in their conference is a little short sighted given the number of great NFL athletes that have come from all over the map. Jerry Rice (Miss Valley St)..Randy Moss (Marshall)..Walter Payton (Jackson St)..Steve McNair (Alcorn St)..

Plenty of great athletes have had a bad game. Reggie Bush will be a good pro. He has NFL speed so if he was an absolute bust everywhere else, he would at least be a good return man. He can catch out of the back field. You can line him up out wide.

Can he run between the tackles? I'm not sure about that yet. Can he block? Not sure about that either. But I believe he has the skill set to be a good pro. And to say he is overrated in college is just ridiculous.

I love SEC football but why would they be so much better at shutting Bush down from week to week? You see what WV did to Georgia? Alabama's D is tight..he may have had trouble with them. UT was gargage this year. Florida wouldn't come close to shutting him down. LSU..might be able to contain him but wouldn't shut him down. Auburn would be a tougher game for Reggie. But Ole Miss, Miss St, Arkansas, SC, Kentucky, Vandy..I'm sure Reggie would be quaking in his boots before those games

Bush had 13 carries to LenDale's 21. When you need a play, like a 4th and 2 for the game, you give it Reggie Bush, no matter what.

But I've got to give it to Vince Young and the Texas defense. I mean, Vince Young is a baller. Now I know it's only college guys, but I think he will be much better than Vick.

And yes, that was a great game.

AirHog I know you are a USC fan so thanks for giving props when they are due.(not a Texas fan)

(UH and VT, and I guess UV) Fan I am

But I've been saying the PAC-10 sucks( pretty much on D)
so of course Bush is going to look good.

Bush is a top-5 pick but nothing special in my opinion My 2 cents

Actually I'm not a USC fan, I like UCLA a little more, but I was still kinda rooting for SC since I like Reggie Bush and their close to home. (And by the way, I'm wearing a burnt orange shirt to school today just to piss off all the fairweather USC fans who can't name one player besides Reggie Bush)

But I still think USC lost it themselves. Yes Vince Young straight up dominanted USC's D, but USC had their chances on offense.

Take Reggie Bush's arid lateral. I actually don't think it was Bush's fault for the fumble, it was stupid Brad Walker's fault for not paying attention to the play (and the best part is Brad Walker went to my school 2 years ago)

But I still give Texas props because they had a vicious secondary and a crazy QB.

I was just waiting for this game to see Buah go up against a good, fast defense. WHen Texas had their bigs in, Bush was able to get to the corner and make plays. When Texas had their fast guys in, he was not.

They're all fast in the NFL.

He'll be an electrifying return man, and if used like Brian Westbrook with lots of screens and outside running and in conjunction with a bruiser like he is at USC he will be an effective offensive weapon as he is now.

Maybe he'll be the workhorse back someone needs, but I just ain't feeling it.

WuSkins I get what your saying

I just hate USC and all the hype about how Bush is going to be the best player ever in the NFL.
He will be a probowler and if he stays healthy, maybe a HOFer.
But they make it seem like he is Gods gift to football.

If Gibbs coached USC the game would have been a blowout. With that line and those RBs he would have just kept pounding the ball down Texas's throat. Vince Young would have only had the ball for about 15 minutes in the entire game and White and Bush would have racked up 400 yds on the ground at least. It would have been absolute domination.

another Rose Bowl...same result. Vince Young is an unbelievable talent. I believe he's making a mistake if he doesn't come out. He'll be #1 overall and play for Houston in his hometown.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.

Yeah I too think Young stole the #1 spot from Bush last night, however I think he will be a terrible NFL QB.

My friends and I were talking about the game today at school and we realized that we could play QB in Texas' offense. All you do is sit in the Shotgun formation and if a Blitz is comming you run, and if not, you sit back in the pocket, all day, and hit your WR right when they stop moving.

Think about it. Vince Young never hit a WR in stride. Every single one of his passes was to a WR who was comming back on a cut back or just sitting their in open space. And half the time he just dropped it off to his TE who was like 5 yards away.

In College you can get away with just athletic ability, like was TexasHog said about Reggie Bush, but in the NFL, Vince Young isn't gonna be breaking the tackles from NFL LB's.

But like Bush, he has unlimited potential, but it's a lot different game in the NFL when you can't get by by just being athletic.

I thought the game was a lot of fun.

- Bush might make it as a WR. He doesn't look like he hits hard enough to run in the NFL

- Leinhart does not seem to have an NFL arm. Compare his passes to the quick zip when Ramsey throws.

- Vince Young was splendid, although he, also, doesn't throw like an NFL starter. How about Young as a big WR?

True. But he's a good enough athlete to play some other position.

Actually Bush is really deceptive with his strength. Did you see at the beginnning of the game (it was like the 4th play), Bush was running to the left and Jacked Up Mike Huff, who's a pretty big safety. But I like your theory of Bush being a WR.

He's got pretty good size, he's almost 6'1 and is just about 200lbs. Plus, his hands are probably better than the best WR comming out anyways.

Yep, kind of like Matt Jones. However I think he will be drafted as a QB very high in the draft, and he will play QB his whole career, I just don't think he will be that good. But your right, with his athleticsm, the sky's the limit for him.

The stiff arm face plant on Huff by White was sweet! That guy surely increased his value last night.

What surprised me most about the game was that people were saying that Bush had a bad game, but he still had like 200 total yards. Even his worst games are still pretty good(except for the idiotic lateral he tried to pull off)

Agreed! Reggie Bush had a pedestrian game for Reggie Bush. Bone headed play with the lateral for sure. He actually had just over 250 total yards.

True enough..ESPN did go overboard on their coverage of USC, Leinart and Bush leading up to the Rose Bowl. Every time I turned to the channel they were slurping the Trojans or matching them up against the '01 Canes or '96 Huskers. Then they MIGHT mention Texas before they went to commerical.
