Hognostications: Weeks 1-17 (and rankings)

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

RiC,
Thanks for running this thread all season. Your hard work is much appreciated. Also, congratulations on a superior season of Hognostication. For the record, my worst week was a 5-9 stinker I mailed in for week 5, but there were only 14 games that week.

Anybody that takes the lessons taught by Joe Gibbs and Co never quits.

Everybody must try to contribute with something to the site!

This 2005 chapter is closed but I wonder if Texas Hog plans to Hognosticate the playoffs. I also wonder if the posters might be interested to participate in a new thread with new playoff scores reset to 0-0 for the playoffs. :feedback;

RiC

A second season. I like it! Maybe we should just limit it to those posters who proved worthy to make the cut. Just an idea, but since I am one of those who would make the playoff round, I am biased. I say take the top 12 posters from the adjusted list, and we'll play it head to head each week, just like the real playoffs. Split the 12 into two conferences of six. The top two from each conference get a first round bye. There can be a tiebreaker of final score of the games. Does this sound good to anyone else?

Yes, I noticed that. But from a statistical perspective, removing a week with a lesser number of games poses a problem. We would be subtracting 2 less wins and losses, which makes total games to be different at the end. That is why we removed the lowest 16-game week for everybody.

I also checked and made sure that this personal choice did not change any position in the final rankings.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

You'll find most people take most things for granted around here, but that isn't true of all. Some of us know and truly appreciate that it was your hard work and dedication that allowed the boards to particpate in a year-long contest.

Simply put RiC... I would just like to say Thanks.

I couldn't agree more. Thanks RIC and congratulations! =D>

and yes, I'll continue to Hognosticate throughout the playoffs
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

The difference is that you can throw a broken clock on the ground and smash it's face in if you feel like it.

One would have argued that wearing that signature would inspire some restraint but apparently not. Man, you keep on digging deeper every day. And I do not thnk that you have any chance of finding anything but more hot water.

Another difference is I never professed to know what I was doing re. hognostications; in fact, quite the contrary.
If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a little noose around your neck?

FanfromAnnapolis wrote:My feedback for the playoff situation would be to have everyone filling out a 'tree' instead of choosing winners week to week. That way, you're punished if you are dumb enough to think that the Giants have a chance at getting to the NFC Championship game. . . :-"

Like March Madness, filling out a tree will give us the best sense of who was most right all along. My 2 cents
Same story as with JSPB22, if YOU organise it and YOU do the stats, I will participate. I am OK with it. You can borrow the format from my Poll post if you wish.

The more people help to organise and participate in these initiatives, the better as far as I am concerned.

I would consult with other mods and the admin if it is preferable to have a separate thread for it or just add it to one of the existing threads. But you have a better feel for this than I do.

Honestly, the comment was self-deprectaing in nature, but, I guess it didn't come out that way. My bad. I shoulda used the [sarcasm][/sarcasm] things a lot of people use around here.
