As reported by Channel 7 News WJLA in the DC area, Champ Bailey has agreed in principle with the Denver Broncos:

6 year contact for $53 million

18 Million signing bonus :shock:

If I remember correctly, I think it was around $55 million over 8 years with an $18 million signing bonus. I could be wrong, though.

The contract the redskins offered him was backloaded to be more cap friendly. Champ wanted it up front. That would have hampered us in free agency. Good bye Champ, hello Clinton Portis.

they did jake. it was 8yr/55mil, 15 mil SB, through the last bit of negotiating. champ still refused.

I realize this is ex post facto, but Denver better have a decent pass rush, cause we had a Sh*tty line that required DBs to cover longer than 7 seconds, Champ could not contain the opponents best receivers for this time.

He gave up way to many deep bombs... later Champ!

Bailey was good until it became about the money in such a big way... Yes I see wanting the big contract, but to the extent that you become a problem to the team that offers you so much to begin with? Ah well....
