ONly if you have competing rakers, some type of scoring system and a ball of some sort.

Bingo! No, I don't mean bingo is a sport, but this is the only definition of what isn't a sport, that I have been able to settle on. Of course, nothing should ever be defined by what it isn't, but by what it is. So I guess we still don't know.

But Nascar isn't a sport, and neither is horse racing, or gymnastics, or anything invented by the French.

i guess you see this from a different angle ,like the infield alot more goes on than what you see from the infield.
behind the scenes like ,sponsors about 15-20mil a car and joe has three so you know where i goin with this.so you need to be seen up front have talent, yes that being car control and taking chances.

n-national a-association for s-stock c-car a-auto r-racing.

yep it,s still a sport in my opinion.

Nope not from a different angle just something I heard that I thought fit the topic.

BTW: Sport or no Sport I've followed NASCAR and the Winston/Nextel Cup for years.

I think in most arguments over NASCAR being a sport or not. Most people only judge it by what they see for 5 minutes while they are flipping through the channels, not by the whole TEAM effort that happens behind the scene.

My wife is from NC. Gibbs is an owner. I'm not half bad turning wrenches, and I do appreciate a nice project car. I have every reason to like it, but I just don't. It isn't a sport, to me.
Then again, neither is golf. :)

Rednecks driving around in circles for hours and hours, wasting all the precious fuel, even if it is a "sport" by definition, it is just a waste of time, money, and natural resources.

Lots of $$$$ spent and lots of money to be made.

When was the last time you saw TS without something that said THD (The Home Depot)? A lot goes on outside of the Oval. Just like there's more to the NFL than showing up on Sunday to play the game.
