Gibbs totally abandoned the run, if I recall correctly, Portis may have had three rushes for that entire quarter. That is pathetic. Fine, he put the ball on the ground twice (couldn't tell how bad either fumble was from my seats) but he was virtually the only effective part of the offense yesterday. I love Gibbs but that was some poor coaching in the 4th quarter.
I agree thats was some poor play calling in the second half!!!The defense held the raiders to field goals twice in the red zone and when the offense got the ball back it was awful!!!One run play then two pass plays trying to hit receivers that couldn't get open.I can understand going down field and taking shots but you should make some plays to chew up the clock first.Just an awful performance all around by the skins.

Where do we go?

We Panic.

Then we start cutting players and coaches that shouldn't be on this team.

This is where we go and hopefully we start doing it today.

We don't panic. We sit on the sidelines and watch, or, if you are at home (like me), you turn on the TV and scream at the set while the wife and kids run for safety, and you hope, you remain faithful, and you trust in the ability of a man who has won 3 of the 4 Superbowls that he's been to, a man that's in the Hall of Fame, and who knows more about football than you or I ever will know. You trust in a team that is going to go out and play, and not give up on any game. You trust that they are working on the things that have plagued them in the season (turnovers), knowing that if they can get those under control, they win the games. But mainly, you trust and hope. If they win, your whole week is great. If they lose, your week is shot for the first day. After that, you look to the next game. Let the coaches worry about who should or shouldn't be playing the game, who should or should not be on the roster, etc. I mean, it's our season, but it's their livelihood, and I think they've got a little more sense of urgency than we do because of that! Besides, once Monday rolls around, we have jobs to go to that take us away from the losses for awhile. Their JOB is to deal with the losses, so it must be that much more painful for them. We're the lucky ones!

My god. I'm upset about the loss too, but I thought you all were fans? We need to have faith in our team. The season isn't over until SBXL and if we aren't in it, that's life. But there is still life, there is still hope, smile, and go Skins!

I'm hoping the only way we can go now is UP!! On to next week...we need find a way to beat the Chargers and beat them handily so it doesn't come down to a refs call or two cause it's obvious we won't get them.

It's time to make some changes for sure. The playcalling was the most dissappointing. The same route to the same guy on a fly pattern... six times. There could have been any number of variations on the route. Then Brunell could have thrown to the back shoulder... pathetic. All this against a poor defense and a lousy team... at home.
Playcalling and turnovers are easy fixes. Not sure if Brunell is 100% out there. If he's not - time to pull the trigger there - again.

All this ridiculous panic has got to stop. We're 5-5, not 4-6, 3-7, or worse. We've been competetive in every game but one. We have a terrible turnover ratio. If we get a couple more bounces our way, we'll win. We're still 2-1 in the division and 5-2 in the conference! Eight teams in the NFC have worse records than we do.

Yes, if the players don't focus and execute and play with intensity, we can lose to anyone, even Oakland (a team that, playing in the AFC West, is not as bad as their record). But we are in a very good position to make the playoffs. We can stop LT next week (we've been strong against the run all year) and get a win. Then we have winnable road games, and two of the three the divisional games at home. It will all come down to those three divisional games. Some of you will have given up on the team three or four times by then, I imagine, but some of us will stick with it and keep some friggin perspective.

For the record, it is -ONE- troll who panics. The other posters are realistic about our chances. Do not let him distract you.

Nor, for the record, is it panic to say the play calling in the fourth quarter was atrocious. A Raiders fan remarked to me that watching the Skins in the 4th quarter was like watching the Raiders all year: predictable

OK -- so we're 5-5. Let's not forget that Gibbs has the highest winning percentage in November and December. Remember when we were 5-5 and Theisman broke his leg? We rallied back and made the playoffs. It can happen, especially since we've made improvement over last year.
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."

Does anyone know why Brunell never audibles and changes the play at the line of scrimmage? There were a ton of plays yesterday where it was obvious that the Raiders were going to blitz and Brunell never checked off to a hot route. Does he have the authority to do this?

I think by now its clear that Brunell can't lead us to the playoffs. Our offense has scored over 21 points only twice this season. At the end of the first half and at the end of the game yesterday, Brunell didn't look like a veteran, he kept looking over to the sideline to see if he should call a timeout, not something a veteran quarterback does and he wasted valuable time. It's time we sit Brunell and give Ramsey a legitimate shot at proving that he can be the MAN for the Redskins.

Don't you mean Campbell? I think Ramsey is DONE here, at least as far as Gibbs is concerned. I'd like to see us start grooming that QB of the future. Time to make that trade payoff.

No, I mean Ramsey. He was screwed over by Gibbs at the beginning of the season and he still has a year left on his contract. If he plays well, either he's our man, or his value will rise so we can get more for him. I'm one of those people who still thinks he can be our QB, and I'm not convinced he will be gone next year. Gibbs has repeatedly said that he is happy with the QB situation, so why would he change anything?

I thought this was Ramsey's final year, but I could be wrong. I'm still not sure about Ramsey as a starter, but I agree he wasn't given a proper shot. Still, Gibbs has tried to replace him twice (Brunell and Campbell), so it seems clear to me Gibbs has no confidence in him and we might as well trade him for someone the coach wants to play.

even though the season looks over u never know. Just try to improve each and every game. Lets try to beat the 6-10 record, and if we do were getting better. Than maybe playoffs next year if we don't make it this year.

Good point, you can add January to that too.
