It's really speculation at this point on his part, but regardless, it is affecting McNabb's play.
Reid is calling it an abdominal strain. He says they are not looking for a second opinion at this point, but he's been known to downplay injuries before.
If it is a hernia, they will try to treat it conservatively, but a majority of cases requires surgery, and the recovery time is usually like 6-12 weeks to return to playing time.
The Eagles punter Dirk Johnson had the surgery in the offseason, and he's punting with the team now. Kendrell Bell had one last year, missed a bunch of playing time, came back to have a different groin injury and missed the rest of the year.
Either way, that sure looks like a plastic bag of ice down his pants.
