It was listed as a comedy in the description on DirecTV. Whether or not it was intended to be funny, it was pretty boring.
The new one actually takes some jokes directly from the original and updates them -- they just weren't all that funny in the original, in my opinion.
The new version is ok. Worth getting on Netflix, for sure.
It had comedic moments, but movies are relative to the time they were made. There were movies that seemed so funny to me in my youth, that now just seem stupid. Still, I'm sure the old version blows the remake away.

Hustle And Flow- 7.5 out of 10
Wedding Crashers- 9 out of 10
Last movie I'd rate a 10 was the film "Crash", not many people have heard of it and I dont remember it being publicized very much on TV. It should be coming out on DVD within the next month or so, you all should definitely check it out. Great film.

Crash was good. Maybe a little preachy. It definitely didn't get much hype, despite some notable cast-members who made the rounds on TV (in fact, last night's Conan was a repeat from May with Matt Dillon).

Eh Harold and Kumar was alright. I'd probably give it about a 8 out of 10. It was enjoyable but it wasn't laugh out loud funny for me.
On a side note: I rented that Bernie Mac/ Ashton Kutcher movie "Guess Who" last night. Truly a disappointment. I came in the movie with such high hopes but I'd have to give it a 5.5/10

theater: herbie fully loaded (i own a 5 year old herbie fanatic). i wasn't expecting much, so i enjoyed it. plus, justin long is a funny mofo. by the way, herbie wins in the end. 7/10
netflix: secret lives of dentists. very interesting, if not sad. denis leary is a riot. 7.5/10
oh, and speaking of vince vaughn, dodgeball is one of the funniest movies ever made, for those of you silly enough to not have seen it yet.

Or if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a dodgeball. That was one of the funniest scenes of any movie..

You came in with high hopes?........

Ashton Kutcher is not an actor (of any significance), and Bernie Mac is soooooooo overrated. He's pretty much the least funniest guy I've seen in a long time. The premise of that movie alone was enough for me to give it two thumbs down.
Based on the previews, I had that movie rated at somewhere between Gigli and that Madonna movie on the island...
BTW, based on the previews, I thought Harold & Kumar would be terrible, until a buddy told me to see it.
Freakin' awesome
