Wow, do the Ravens know how to run an organization or what? We better hope that arrogant prick Billick doesn't get his hands on a qaurterback and a set of recievers.

The Patriots have a lot of work to do with all those early draft picks and the Ty Law situation...

This must include player incentive #s from 2003 because the Redskins haven't made any roster moves since ESPN's last report which had the Redskns at $8.6 mil.

See, now you know why Champ hasn't been franchised yet... we don't have the cap space.

It'll take 6.8 mil just to throw the tag on him. So we have to cut one or two guys just to use the tag.

And don't forget... Bruce Smith is potentially 6.5 million more to that pile.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

The Ravens' number is very misleading. They ony have 34 players under contract. Signing 17 others just to get to the "rule of 51" will eat up a substantial portion of that.

These numbers, while accurate, do not reflect the true standing of teams with regard to the cap. One must take into account the number of players currently under contract, RFAs, and exclusive rights.

Then look starters who are UFAs and a team's desire or need to re-sign them. For example, if Baltimore re-signed McCallister, the numbers would change.
This space reserved for BTP......If he ever wins it.

Thanks Curveball - it's nice to know the 'rest of the story'. And even though the hated (IMO) Ravens have a lot more players to sign I give credit to the job Ozzie Newsome does (I think he's what you call a GM)...

Excellent point curveball.

Like all off-season news... IT'S TOO EARLY TO TELL.

But hey, speculation is what being a fan is all about.

Incidentally... according to my #s, the Redskins have 55 players included in that number.

one thing not really mentioned, is that with the leaving of Bruce and couple other cuts that wouldn't be terribly detrimental(Dalton I believe) the Skins can get to around 15-16 million under.

Plues if they can renagotiate a contract or two and sign Champ long term, that leaves more space to sign guys.

They aren't really bad off at all.

Skinnns, welcome... why not register and read a few threads, all of this has been mentioned.

Ozzie is the damn man!!! I could careless if he's a raven or not, he knows what he's doing and does it well. SUPERB CHEAP TALENT!!!! How many players have we gotten with all of those qualities?

Superb EXPENSIVE TALENT
Poor Expensive talent

We need a great front office like that.

I totally agree. Even though I hate Billick, he does a hell of a job. Somehow, they are always competing for a playoff spot, even when they have no business being there. I've always thought in terms of ownership, front office decisions, coaching, and play on the field, they have been the "anti-Redskins" these last five years or so. Hopefully that will change...

The thing that surprised me was the Steelers cap number. How can you be $5 mil over and be that horrible?

I think we can actually get better than that 15-16 mil, which will leave us room to move, especially if Gibbs trades down to a top ten pick instead of a top 5 - the money seems to drop by quite a substantial amount, plus we would get an extra pick or two, maybe a third rounder to make up for trading it to Jax for Brunell...

Ok guys, so where's the fat and where's the beef on the Redskins? Projected cuts please - just for fun!

Armstead, Barker (please!), Dalton, Gardner, Bailey - jump in anytime.

Speek bro - Bailey isn't a cut... he is done with his contract - the only way we save money is by not signing him to that huge contract we offered him

Seriously, projected cuts. I'm interested in how you can get more cap space.

Someone mentioned Trung Candidate and Lionel Dalton, and I've read a restructuring for Samuels.

Bruce Smith... 6.5 million minimum... what more do you need C&B?

There are other players... Dalton (1.4M), Canidate (1M), Larry Moore (1.3M), Byron Chamberlain (750K), Bryan Barker (1M)... Jesse Armstead (1M).
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
