I've never heard of a modern NFL contract not having an "out". Some have the now infamous "dangerous behaviors" clause and some don't, but they all seem to have a clause pertaining to off-field criminal activity.

That would be delightful irony if we do have an out. Here we have Mr. Selfish being an idiot because he wants more money. He doesn't show up to camp to show us who's the man, he gets into trouble while "taking a break" and then has to give us money back. I hope this happens, badly.

Well i think most of us are pretty mad at the situation. But this all can be a learning experience for this 22 year old millionair. I hope he laerns that none of the trouble he will go through would have happened if he answered Joe Gibbs's calls and came to the workouts. Now no wonder what he will be charged with and who knows what the league will do. None the less may this be a lesson for young guys like him.

I like the guy and all, but I dont know how much longer this can be tolerated.

Sean Taylor is an idiot. And if someone tells me that he's only 22 than I say he's a 22 year old idiot. I for one hope that he never wears a Redskin uniform again. He doesn't respect being a Redskin and I don't think we should let his talent shadow his lack of respect for his team, teammates, fans or the game.
As a fellow human being I hope he can man-up and work his way through this problem. I don't see professional football as the medium for him to become a more mature person. I wish him the best, but not as a member of Redskins.

Message Loud & Clear Shaun!
You have been given the rest of the summer off by GibbS, et.al.
So this means no mini-camp for you. This starts placing you in the same position as that other "stud" from the "U"... Winslow.
Hope your happy BONE HEAD!

It's Sean, not the Shaun like Shaun Alexander.
And I'm sure your frustrated, but you could have just voiced your opinion in any of the other Sean Taylor Hatin threads.
And just for the record, sure he's making me mad right now but next season when he's layin out Keyshawn, I'll be loving him.

I remembered reading this about a month ago. Eagles owner Jeff Lurie regarding T.O.s holdout.
Sean your agent is a sleaze ball, and now you have fallen into a trap that will cost you millions at least, if not your freedom.
Owens fired longtime agent David Joseph in April, hired Drew Rosenhaus and started asking for a renegotiation just one year into a seven-year deal worth almost $49 million.
Lurie criticized Owens' new agent for giving him "self-destructive advice."
"Every player is both fragile and talented," said Lurie, who was traveling Wednesday with NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue to a conference of chief executive officers in Beijing.
"Unfortunately, we're seeing around the league certain agents who take advantage of the fragility of the players, and are less worried about their continued success and stability than acting self destructively. It's too bad," he said.

I have not given up on Sean Taylor and the magic that Joe Gibbs and Co. can bring to turn this guy around.
But I surely have given up on Sean Taylor as a significant contributor to our success this season. He deserves to be in the doghouse (and possibly the jailhouse if he is convicted).
If this guy does not improve, the ONLY good lesson that can be brought to bare is that NO PLAYER is above the team. You do not break Rule #1: Do not embarrass the Washington Redskins Organization as a whole.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Yeah, I'm still hopeful that all of this stuff will be okay at the end. I hope ST will be on the field playing his heart out and apologizing every time he's in front of a camera. I know all these events make the picture grim but there might be a little speck of light at the end of the tunnel where everything will return to normal.
Yes he did offend the Washington Redskins by his actions. Yes he deserves to be punnished. Yes he did not contribute to the team this offseason. BUT hopefully something in ST's brain will ignite a desire to fix his false ways and return to become one of the best safties of the league.
I really love having ST back there. It's so exciting to see him run around the field. Though I am utterly sad to see his recent news, I hope the 22 year old realizes what is going on and starts his career all over again.

So whats going to affect Sean Taylors play? If the charges are dropped, will Gibbs suspend Sean Taylor himself or will the NFl, or if he is foudn guilty will be serve suspension or jail time? Im not sure can someone clear that up for me and what the chances are of him playing next year

I assume he'll be suspended from the league for a couple of weeks. 2-3?? That's if he's out of jail by the time the season rolls around.

Lol nah its not from his mugshot, I love my avatar, even though Sean Taylor has a terrible attitude, his talent is unquestionable. I truly believe he is better than Roy Williams, the guy brings a passion to the game and hits hard as anything every down, just wish his head was on straight

I think Gibbs handling of this is genius. By excusing Sean from practice, it make Gibbs seem as if he is looking out for Sean's best intersts. And he is. But this also should get Sean's attention and compell respect for his coach (we would hope), especially in light of how Sean has handled the offseason to this point. This sends a powerfull message to the rest of the team that Joe has their back, while at the same time removing the distraction from the team during those practices. He also gains power over Sean in future contract negotiations. Finally, he lays the punishment of Sean off on the NFL. Brilliant!
