The fact that Joe Gibbs is back is proof enough that Snyder is a good guy. No way Gibbs agrees to come back otherwise - simply no way. The haters will always be there, but I'm a fan of the Danny!
Good point Scooter. In order for Gibbs to decide to come back from running a championship NASCAR team, he had to have known Synders true intention for the team were good and Gibbs wanted to help him reach those goals.

Very well thought out post. However, I can't get behind Snyder as an owner. He's yet to field a winner. The head coach changes VERY frequently, and the coordinators even more frequently. The sky was the limit with spending and now the inevitable purge is essentially upon the Skins. The future is now. And that future has been mortgaged. And the Skins have what to show for it? Bruce Smith and Deion Sanders have fat pockets to show for it. But what about us? "Us" Meaning the fans. Heck, WE are the "core" Redskins. Especially at this point. Well we have the "Funky Four". They'll all be thin by the time Danny Boy correctly buys the fans a funky fourth Lombardi trophy.
My car doesn't go fast, but if you're important, people will wait for you.
Ok I respect some of the things Danny Boy has done since coming but he is in no way Jack Kent Cooke (please forgive me if I spelled it wrong). Which also brings the one thing I can never forgive Mr Snyder for. After purchasing the Redskins I remember him saying, and please correct me if I am mistaken, but he said the name of the stadium would always be Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. (seeing how Mr. Cooke was and still is one of the very few owners in the NFL who put up his own money to built a home for his team rather than holding a city hostage until the ante up a ransom just to keep their team in their city). It is for this reasson that Mr Snyders name always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Everyone screams that Danny boy is an Owner Fan but what has he done for us fans, other than raising our hopes with exsenive purchases. I belive he is learning from his mistakes but I think he should have the respect for the team to bench himself if he sees that he is hurting the team.
Now with all that said. I am behind whats happening this offseason. Hail to the Redskins! May we control our own destiny into the playoffs this season.
Damn BringThePain, beautiful post. I enjoyed reading it, and i agree with you 100%. Now lets all learn from our mistakes and take this baby to the playoffs.
Sorry all the "great post" posts were getting annoying so I thought I would add some levity to the thread.

Please... Snyder spent $800 million on this team... he's got to get it back somehow.... You don't go buy a business knowing that you'll never see the money back for it... Jack Kent Cooke wasn't all that great anyways....Gibbs brought this team to success in the 80's..... after Gibbs left, the franchise went down the drain..... I hate to think what would become of our great 80's history had Cooke not hired Gibbs.... I doubt you and others would be holding him so highly...

I'm glad that somebody brought this back to "life"! Great post BTP!
I think we are very lucky to have the Danny as our owner and I think he's made some mistakes but hopefully learned from them and IMO he's the best for us right now. JKC was not all that warm and fuzzy and a lot of these owners are not at all like their "projected" to be. What you see (and the media will continue to villify him) is what you get and he is a fan. There are a lot of owners who do not care about the team it's just a business.
This is also our team and IMO DS is doing what he thinks will make it better - it's his team! Thanks again BTP, that post is very fair.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
JansenFan's right - that's not a great post that stuff is required reading!

Indeed, great post, BTP! He definitely gets a much worse rap than deserved. The media portrays him as coming from money and growing up privilidged when in fact he's worked his keister off (with a ton of help from his father, like you said - and, Primetime42, his father brought him up a Redskins fan and he owns the team so he can put a patch wherever he wants)
BTW - Jack Kent Cooke was no saint but since he won, his many faults were overlooked. According to many, he was equally as much of an a-holio as Snyder. Once we start winning and doing so consistently, Snyder will be held in a high regard. Plus, he's only 40 - we better get used to him b/c if he lives as long as JKC, I figure he's got another 40 years as our owner...
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.
You got that right R'74! Hopefully he's going to get to add to that collection out at Redskins Park.
I remember hearing some unflattering comments about JKC too, but as you said, winning seems to make everything "better"! Maybe they will back off when we get this thing going again?
