I think if it did happen it would be the worst case scenario for us.

That would mean not only would Smoot have left, but that both of the WR's would be off the board.

I wouldn't cry if we "had" to draft Rolle, but I'd certainly rather have an offense in 2005.

tru tru but as we've seen dfense wins ships not ofense otherwise manning would have a few more than 0 ships

i just feel like if they pick a reciver that we are gonna have another westbrook situation again where as picking a dfensive player you have a bit more security in production

Do people forget we did have the 1st ranked defense in the nfl, and finished 3rd. Our phocus needs to be on improving the offense, but also adding key additions to the defense. It is hard to develop a rookie corner, because as a corner you are most of the time on an island by yourself. Even if we draft Antrell rolle, he will not be our first corner threfore a waste of a draft pick because we can aquire a 2nd corner from free agency so why draft Rolle.

its just my view we've had overall better development outta dfensive players then ofense i kno the cap and everything is making it hard but if we make the dfense better then no matter what about the ofense we can win ravens 2000

Rolle is gonna be a great player in the NFL. If we do lose Smoot and are unable to sign a good replacement we should definitely take him. I know we need offense but CB is such an important position in our defense and good players at CB are at a premium. Getting a guy of Rolle's size and skill with the #9 pick would be a great move.

If Gregg Williams says Sumari Rolle is a 'shutdown' corner - I'll take it to the bank. I like the younger Rolle a lot - but looks like the Skins may offer Smoot the same deal they have on the table for S. Rolle today - if so, Smoot could be back in the mix...developing

Reports say that we are on the verge of signing Samari Rolle for and 18 million dollar signing bonus. No doubt that Rolle is a top CB, but if Smoot is widely regarded as the better of the two, why not resign Smoot? He was willing to sign for less. I am confused

What report is that?
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

Smoot isn't regarded as highly around the NFL. Personally, I'd rather keep Smoot - just for the sake of the team and the fans. But hey, we lived after Champ left town - we'll do just fine without Smoot - maybe even better. Rolle's time with Williams in Tennessee will pay dividends for us if he's a Skin soon.

The Washington times reported that. Every article I have read says Smoot is a better cover corner. I say focus on Smoot, and leave Rolle alone. JMO
