Well, instead of giving a huge signing bonus to an outsider, another flashy free agent, why not give it to Smoot??

I agree that we need to stop dumping cash on big name guys. We need to stop trading away our draft picks as well. You can get a good player in the 2nd round, without having to give him 30million and 10million signing. That is why we have such cap issues.
Besides, the new rule emphasis makes all the CB's look like crap, THAT's the biggest reason Champ Bailey has looked so horrible at times. A good pass rush takes priority over a good CB nowadays - Primetime 42 you are right on with that statement.

Because the defensive coaches got tired on yelling at Smoot after he whiffed on sacks. There were 4-5 times this season where he had an easy sack but completly missed the QB. Meanwhile all the other defensive players blitzed successfully.

If Smoot wants to be paid like Shawn Springs then he needs to blitz like Shawn Springs. Period.

 EVEYONE knows that the decision will be based not on Smoot's performance or even the amount of the bonus. The REAL factor in all of this is how many miles the Danny can log on Redskins One. Do you HONESTLY think he'll want to re-sign someone SO close to the DC area??? No one will get to see the new paint job on the plane!!!

BTW - hadn't seen you in a while, O. Good to see you again.

That's true. Danny does like to play owner. Sometimes offseason is as exciting as regular.
