Man, the best pizza in the world is at a small, hole in the wall pizza place called Nut House Pizza. It's in Silver Spring MD near the Washington metro area. It's the best pizza ever. I tried everything else, but Nut House Pizza is the best. tasty.

. It's kosher too! yeah baby

Can't say that I've ever tried that pie, but by chance if you are ever in London, ON Canada you must try Frank and Gus Pizza. It is by far THE best pizza ever. It is on the pricey side by standards in this area. But it is well worth it.
They use nothing but the best...and so much cheese and such a thin crust.
And yes, Momma makes the sauce every morning at 5am.
BossHog, you should really try this place out.
BTW SkinsLaVar, you can put the W beside 49ers now if you want.

Hey, this is DC!

What ever happened to the real Ledo's, on University Blvd? (No, not the chain Ledo's...the old place with pictures of Harmon Killebrew and Bob Allison, and the late-'50's Terps football stars.)

Going national:

- Best in New York, type (a): John's Pizza, Bleecker between 6th and 7th in the Village (near the Sheridan Square #1 train stop). Wood-fired ovens, thin crust, style originated in Little Italy. Grab one of the booths in the original section, then sit under the glorious murals of the "blue grottos" or whatever they are.

- New York, type (b): V&T's, 110th and Amsterdam, Columbia University neighborhood. Gas-fired ovens, thicker crust, sweeter sauce, migrated up to Morningside Heights from the old "Little League of Nations" neighborhood, along 1st Avenue around 116th Street.

- Chicago: Due's, in the Loop near the Chicago River, just off Michigan Avenue. Uno's (now chained) and Due's used to be the Big Two of Chicago deep-dish pie. I haven't seen Uno's lately, but I was in Due's about 10 - 12 years ago. Unchanged, unspoiled, still dark, still loaded with photos of The Bears, including many of the old Bears, like Butkus and Ditka. I took a couple of techies from a French bank called Societe Generale, and they went catatonic...speechless..."But, Jean, what is this????"

Two Amy's (next to Cactus Cantina) in Tenleytown, DC is pretty darn good pie, as is Matchbox near the MCI Center. They both make more of the thin crust, somewhat gourmet variety but they're tasty. The Italian Store in Arlington is mighty fine as is Vace in Cleveland Park, DC....mmmmmGood.

I'm getting hungry.

My wife dips her pizza in ketchup... she has me doing it on occasion. I always thought it was weird but it's pretty good.

Hill66, I know a lot of people in this town, including the guys who own Frank & Gus. I know John and Vince quite well and mamma mia, do they ever make a good pizza. Not the garbage kind of generic commercial pie that you get evrywhere else but the kind that's greasy because of all that authentic, primo, mozzarella chesse. My buddy Mark is actually REALLY good buddies with Vince and Vincenzo cooks up Marco da special primo pizzas!!!

Ever tried Lenny's pizza bro? They're really good too... different than F&G but good. And answer your darn PMs :!:

as for toppings... whatever meat they have to put on there... bacon, pepperoni, italian sausage, ground beef... and onions... preferably fried onions.

I kind of like to make my own pizzas so that I can cook everything in the bacon grease before I top the pizza. :shock:

I like Lil Ceasars pizza only for the fact that you can a pretty decent large pizza for $5! :shock:

When Im not broke I usually like my pizza from a store up the street called Stoko's.

My brother (SkinsBigTime on this site) is always coming home with one of those 5 dollar pizzas--for a while I thought that he was always going off and blowing 10 dollars away for a big meal, but ever since I've been curious as to just how good that 5 dollar pizza can really be. . .

People, People, People, if you REALLY wanna try the best pizza in the United States, you have to travel to Chicago, Ill. A place called Luccianos is unmatched.

Locally, I like Pizza LaVitta on South Main Street in Weymouth, Mass.

Has anyone been to Boynton's in Worcester? It's opposite a fine sea-food place call the Sole Proprietor, so when we visit The Daughter, we take her and roommate to Sole Proprietor. But I've always wondered about Boynton's.

And Chris I'd leave it to a college guy to pick the $5 pizza as his fav.

BTP and 1974 I cannot imagine dipping pizza in ketchep. And I can honestly say I've never heard of that either.

I don't really have a favorite pizza. Though there is a local place called Pirates of Pizza, yeah weird name I know, but they used to make a Steak and Cheese pizza that had a special sauce rather then tomato sauce and it is awesome. On occasion we still get one because Scott is buddies with the owner.

And SkinsLavar I have no idea where you get your pizza from but around here there are NO topless pizza joints, not that I am complaining. So maybe we should take the boobs out of the subject line. Then again if you did maybe not so many men would have jumped on this thread.

As for my fave pizza -- I'm with BossHog -- Lenny's pizza makes me an incredible vegetarian pizza! Or, we make our own using pre-formed pizza crusts -- topped with all the best stuff from the garden (not the barnyard!)! :lol:

BTP, it's true. In Canada, they shun ketchup, even for fries. They pour what you call Malt Vinegar on 'em, instead.
Let me tell you something. That stuff is out of this world.
Don't get me wrong. I still use ketchup on my fries, at a fast food place. But for tater tots...you have to go with the Malt Vinegar.
I knew Canada was gonna send us something better than Anne Murray and cold fronts sooner or later.
