11 point underdogs. On the road and going against an 8-1 team, this may sound absolutley stupid, but for some reason I think we have a chance.
The better team does not always win. Sometimes it is a matter of how you match up against a team. Think bck to the New England vs. St. Louis Super Bowl. Many people said The rams were clearly the favorites and that the Pats had no chance. However many people did not look at the way that the teams match up.
How did that work out for St. Louis by the way?
Our Strengths are our Defense, and our ability to run the ball.
Philly's weakness is there Defense,( more specifically there run defense and there linebackers, and Sheldon Brown.)
There happens to be a team that a lot like us has a great Defense and a strong running game. That team is Pittsburg.(Don't think that I am comparing us to the best team in football, I'm just comparing strengths and weaknesses.)
The Eagles Pass offense happens to be an absolute monster But our pass Defense is no slouch either.
If we can control the clock I like our chances. In other words, they win a shootout we win a clock controlled game.

If Sheldon Brown is a weakness for the Eagles why are teams throwing at Lito so often?
Look at the NFC. Philadelphia's Lito Sheppard and Seattle's Marcus Trufant are arguably the best corners in the NFC. Sheppard was the NFC Defensive Player of the Month of October. Yet, according to Stats Inc. he's the league's second most targeted cornerback, having 37 completions against him out of 59 throws.

I never doubted Lito. The reason teams pick on him is because they see favorable match against his 5'8" frame.
I see Lito as a stron corner in years to come, I see him as being better that Brown.

ROTFALMAO did he gain enough speed to run portis down from behind in the offseason? thats all trotter does, is miss plays. ask general failure if you don't believe me.cowboys4life wrote:SkinFan 0-16 or 16-0 wrote:11 point underdogs. Are you serious, you actually think your offense will put up 20 points against the eagles. You guys have not done it all year long. Trotter will make you guys pay. Trotter is back in the defense that made him a star. You guys should have kept him this year. He would have fit perfect in your attacking defense. Even though philly is kinda hurt up, their defense is still good enough to beat you guys and your offense. The skins linemen are not as fast as the Cowboys linemen, so Mcnabb will be able to do his thing.

ok gamby. if you are so great why don't you boycott jones with txcowgirl and run him out of town? worry about your own team getting their ass handed to them at the expense of ray lewis and company instead of the team that you are a closet fan of. vinny won't fair well.

You have got to be kidding me.
For one Take a close look at the game. Trotter Blitzes whenever he feels like it. I can't count how many games Trotter decided to go after the QB when he should have been gaurding the Running Back.
I can think of two games off the top of my head, (could be more) that his undiscepline cost us games. Against Carolina last year and the Giants.
Both Screen Passes of oover 20 yards in crucial situations. that were his fault that costed us games.
Our D is in the top 5, Dallas' D could carry our jock. Don't you ever try to lump us in with you.
And If you can score 21 points with a RUNNING BACK WHO ONLY GOES FOR 39 YARDS. AND A QB WHO LINES UP BEHIND THE GUARD, I think we might be able to match it.

Keep it real, Eagles are going to beat us in all phases of the game. It may be close into the 2nd quarter but our defense will only hold on for soo long. I tend to look at things realistically, this team has alot of holes, I can't even see us making the playoffs next year. Then, in 2006 we have a cap disaster due to all the "dead money" from guys we will cut but have to take the hit for their signing bonuses. It hurts to say it but thats where we are heading. I'm just trying to keep it real.

It all comes down to Ramsey. Coming into this season, we thought this team had a chance to compete. Top to bottom, we thought we were a solid football team.
Well guess what. We are a solid football team. Except up until this point, our ability to throw the ball has been atrocious. The defense has been outstanding, the running game is finally humming, and we are a John Hall short of having a very well rounded special teams.
But quarterback play has killed us. If Ramsey can provide some consistency and some big-play ability, this Redskin team is easily as good as any of these other loser 5-4 teams in the NFC.
But that's a big if. Ramsey will obviously be better than Brunell, but there is a reason it took so long for Gibbs to call Ramsey's number. If he can play a good football team, there is no reason the Redskins can't win, because as people have said, we match up relativley well with the Eagles.
Of course, if he plays a lousy football game (which, based on history, is more likely than not) it is going to be another long Sunday...

I disagree. I'm not saying for sure that we win. But I don't think our Defense will let us get blown out. As for all aspects. I see theie Passing Game as better than ours but not their running game. I see Our Defense is better as better than ours.
We don't have too many wholes. All we need is a little tweaking at some key positions. We have lost a lot of close games if we can do enough to make some of those close losses close wins, we could be a dedcent team next year.

I agree SkinFan! I know they should beat us but we just might pull this one out.
Call me crazy on Thursday but if we can just get some time off the clock with our running game this D is very good.
Our defence has allowed 28 of 129 on 3rd down. They are 51 of 133!
Maybe we don't score the points but I really do not think we lose by 11!!

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Well, Hellhog, I came late to the party. I was SURE you were drinkin' and postin' again. Thanks for the the explanation.
Ramsey brings a new facet to this offense, in my opinion. The other team has to respect the long ball now. This time last week, nothin' doin'. Everybody knew the game plan. Hand off to Portis, watch for the option. Handoff to Portis, watch for the bootleg left. Short dump to Portis.
It was a broken record. Now that Gibbs has named Patrick his starter, I can finally throw my support behind the youngster. I, like others here, will never cross Gibbs.
Finally, we have a gunslinger behind center.
Is he from The Apple Dumpling Gang ? I don't know yet, but it's gonna be fun to watch for the first time all year !

The kind of "supporters" that are not Gibbs-Redskins fans. They will learn, slowly but surely that you NEVER should count Joe Gibbs out of a game. I sincerely hope Andy Reid and his players are thinking exactly like you. It would be fun, real fun.1fan4ramsey wrote:I have memories of our first team defense being shredded by the Rams in preseason. I think the same thing may happen Sunday, though I wish it would'nt.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Sorry, I know you guys were not a fit for Trotter, but to get 202 tackles you have to do just slightly more than jump on the pile...
Different scheme...different results...

FYI, General Failure is an Eagles fan.....I don't think his comments had anything to do with Trotter's fit in the Redskins defense.
