Favorite Game Day Memory

Post by doroshjt »

When I was around 10 years old, my mom's cousin was good friends with Torgy Torgisen (then defensive line coach) and they would always give my dad a pair of tickets when the crappy teams came to play, usually the lions or the cardinals. So I remember going to RFK seeing that place just rock, then after the game go to the tailgate with the Torgisens, in the players parking lot. I thought this was normal, didn't everyone? I was 10, what did I know. So I'd be standing around drinking root beer eating chicken wings next to art monks car and seeing the hogs come by and eat some food. it was a great. Oh to be 10 again without a care in the world.

Sound really sweet doroshjt. People pay money for that.

I just got to bump into them every once and awhile around town, but nothing to personal. Would love to have met my favorite player, hmmm . . . wonder who.

My favorite moment has to be the playoff game against the falcons i believe. I was young at the time too, 10 or 11 , and it was the game in which they gave away free seat coushions, and when we finally put the falcons away everyone threw the coushions onto the field. It was a fun moment and one i won't forget. Those were the glory days. I think the skins have lost some of that feel in the past ten years. Something about RFK and the old skins made those games special

Hopefully the new skins can make their own historic moments in the near future

I remember watching the seat cushion game on tv, that was incredible.

Two years ago, Thanksgiving Day, watching Danny Wuerrfel guide our team to a near victory over the COwgirls. Had a then-very-green Ladell Betts only caught the pass out of the end zone, instead of tipping it into Roy Williams' hands for the TD, we may have ended our losing streak against the girls with Danny at the helm. Imagine that.

Yes, I was wearing a Danny Wuerrfel jersey while watching that game. It broke my heart to watch his teammates blow the lead for their fearless, though diminutive, leader.
Back and better than ever!
