Bye Week Shout out...

Post by BossHog »

... going out to the staff.

While many members may take it for granted some, yours truly never does. The guys that freely volunteer their time to this site so that we can put out DAILY content, deserve a shout out this week during the bye week. It struck me today as I was posting JansenFan's great article on Jon Jansen that it's the bye week and I have to try and figure out how to slot in all of the content that we had slated for this week and next. Usually the bye week is a slow week.

These guys epitomize what it means to bleed burgundy and gold by donating so much of their time freely so that there is more at theHogs.net for our community to enjoy. Since the beginning of September, they have been a busy crew.

Just checking back through the content database and the transactions database, I notice that there have been approximately FIFTY articles written since Sept 5th (47 days), 60 transactions added to the transaction log, 7 cartoons, 6 game days... the list goes on. Some of you take advantage of all of the info that is brought to you, some of you don't... point is... it's because of the effort of other fans just like yourselves that we are able to continue to turn out exclusive content for you every day.

The tailgating club... the board... it never ceases to amaze me how it does not matter how full tilt everyone on the staff goes, we can never get it all done... and that's because as soon as resources dictate that we can try churn out more... we do.

I get so much e-mail that it would make most go mad... a lot of it is positive... a lot of it presumes that we are in some way acting in an 'official capacity'. A lot of that comes from the levels that we try and usually succeed to reach. And it takes a great effort by many to do so. We are not 'official' in any way... we are just a bunch of Redskins fans that are doing our part to help all our fellow Redskin fans bleed burgundy and gold just a little bit harder. Nobody gets anything out of it except the satisfaction of a job well done.

So my boys deserve a post dedicated to their hard work... thanks to guys like Wingman, DEHog, hailskins666, JansenFan, Scooter, Jake, NC43 Hog, Justice Hog, Texas Hog, and skinsfaninroanoke... many of you make theHogs.net your home.

I know many of you express your thanks regularly, and this thread isn't a thread to draw out 'great jobs' from everyone. What I would like you to do is, stop for just 5 seconds of your busy life and give some thought and appreciation to a bunch of guys that are so dedicated to the cause that they rarely stop for two seconds themselves, and think about just how quickly this site has grown and how many people DEPEND on us for their Redskins fix.

We appreciate you all for supporting us by dropping by... but I personally am especially appreciative of the staffers who in my opinion, personify fan dedication with their constant blood, sweat and tears. This thread is dedicated to them and comes complete with an expression of my 100% gratitude for their time.

Enjoy your 'week off'. :-)

Thanks for the "shout out", Mark. As I've always said, I truly consider it to be an honor to play even the smallest of parts for this site. This site is truly something special and has grown leaps and bounds since its modest beginning. I can't wait to see how far it can go.

Here, here! As always, Mark you're the man who makes this possible and without you there would be no thehogs.net or place for us to contribute or share our common bond with other Skin fans. I appreciate all that everyone does, and particularly you for all your hard work and dedication to such a worthwhile cause.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

No thanks are necessary BH, although I appreciate it. As I have said many times, my thanks go to you for allowing me the opportunity to contribute.

GREAT JOB!!! This is THE best Redskins site out there...even better than the official one. I would as a mere visitor and infrequent poster like to add my thanks and kudos to everyone from BossHog on down. You all have done an incredible job and all of us posters are grateful to have such a professional and classy site to get together and read about and discuss our beloved team. Thank you for all of your blood, sweat and tears.

Thanks Guys for all the great work you do. Not just the Skins news and a place to talk redskin football, but for the other things that you don't get on most sites like if you have a question about something that isn't football (or sports for that matter) related there's a place to post that question and you'll probaly get a answer pretty quick (normally a staff member). If you need a opinion on something you have a place to ask for it and get a honest response.
theHogs.net sells T-shirts and the staff doesn't have "donate"..."support this site" or "order a T" in their sig.. so it's in every thread but it's a T-shirt we should all be proud to wear, because if asked about thehogs.net there is nothing negative that can be said. SO I'll say it BUY a T or make a donation(these guys work HARD) I've refered many freinds to this site who log on as guess and register on the boards of their favorite team thru F2F but most say this is the better site so they lurk.
I don't know what sources I would be using if I hadn't found this site in March, but that's not a worry anymore.
Gameday, Redskin News and the Flash cartoons are all new since I joined, alot of sites don't roll out more than 1 new feature in a season but we have atleast 3 which shows that the staff wants us to be informed when we talk about our team ...Again THANK YOU to the Staff of theHogs.net
KEEP up the great work

I know that Boss did not want to have a bunch of "echoes" about the site or the people who work behind the scenes to make it what it is, bit I really am so grateful to all of you that I have to also say "thank you".

I can only imagine how much time and effort goes into making this site so great, and I want you to know that I'm sure everyone (even the puke fans!) enjoys and appreciates your efforts.

THANK YOU!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

...but there is a way that you can help BossHog shoulder the considerable costs associated with maintaining a site like this. Note the PayPal icon at the bottom of each screen. Doesn't have to be a million dollars. Every little bit helps. Try it. I have. You'll feel better about yourself for helping.

Most of the sentiments shared by the posters of this great board have been already elocuently expressed above.

I will only put it using Joe Gibbs terms:

There are -core- Redskins players.

There are -core- Redskins fans.

Mark and the Board and writers are some of the best -core- Skins fans I have had the privilege to get to know.

I hope to meet you in person at one time in the future. I will travel to Washington on Tuesday -after- the Packers game, too late to join you at the Tailgate. But I will be there in spirit.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Maybe you should wear something bright and loud while you're there in "spirit", RIC. From what I've read here, there's no shortage of "spirits" (and other beverages, I'm sure) at one of JH's tailgates. :)

As a testament to this site, I wanted to pass the following on:

Last week, I went to our F2Fa affiliate Packers site to wish them luck this past weekend. A Cowboys fan called me out and so I responded. He read it and didn't respond but left so I went over to Cowboysguide and sure enough, the guys was there recruiting assistance. All in good fun, I commented that it was typical, instead of responding he came to get some help. We went back and forth a bit , but nothing that violated any rules. I went back today to check on it and all of my posts have been deleted. No rules were broken, but because I am a Skins fan, my posts are gone.

That is why this is the best site out there. Everyone gets a voice. If you follow the rules, we don't care who you root for.
