GO ASTROS!

Post by Texas Hog »

For those of us who have been suffering fans of this club for so long, it sure would be nice to see them finish off the Cards and go on to win the Series.

By rule, I avoid cheering for any team from Texas, but I am pulling for the Astros. They are the underdog, plus they had never won a playoff series before this season.

They knocked my Braves out of the post-season. I'm pulling for the Cardinals only because I feel they have a better chance than the Astros at beating the damn Yankees. I hate the Yankees. But if the Astros knock out the Cardinals, I'll be an Astro fan for the World Series.

Yeah, Clemens against the Yanks would make for a good matchup.

I guess I'm rooting for the Cards because of ex-Phillie, Scott Rolen.

I agree. They have been playing too well for too long to not get a shot at this.

I'm not pulling for the Astros or the Cardinals in their series but whoever plays the Yanks is going to be my favorite team for the World Series. I also agree that the Cards are the most well-rounded team to defeat the Bombers but that remains to be seen.

No team

Post by Redskin in Canada »

I have no team. I love and know the game. I like -some- series and -some- players. No team.

Free agency in beisball has destroyed anything remotely close to player loyalty to a team.

It worries me that they may do the same thing to football.

I hope we can keep a -core- of Redskins players. That would be a joke in beisball...

What a great ending last night....Kent jacking a three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth! Sweet! :)

Nowhere near as bad as it did there. We can still identify football players with the same teams at least a few seasons in a row.

Great run for my boys, just came up a game shy. Most enjoyable season to date. Hopefully we can keep Steinbrener hand's off Beltran....I don't see that happening....get Clemens to return for one more year and get Pettitte healthy. That would make for another good run. Beltran obviously being the priority. His greedy agent will have playing for the pukes in NY however.
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.

I thought for sure they could pull it off with Clemens and Oswalt available (sorry if I spelled that wrong Roy).

Sorry about that, TH.

It honestly didn't matter to me who won the NLCS as long as Boston beat NY and hopefully wins the WS.

I'm sort of glad the Cards are going because they seem to have a stronger lineup, which will make for a good matchup against Boston. Plus, if the Yanks had won, the Cards would have obliterated NY's pitching staff. But at the same time, I do feel bad for Bagwell and Biggio because they haven't had any type of postseason success in their careers.

Hey, Jake...If you were a ballplayer in the minors, and your team traded you to the Yankees farm team, would you refuse the assignment, based on principle ?

Not if the Expos/Senators have anything to do with it!

Yup. Plus the Yanks have no farm system to speak of, anyways. So even if I didn't dislike the Yanks, I still wouldn't want to be on one of their farm teams.
