New here...

Post by JCaptMorgan12 »

Hey guys, I am a new registered user, and just want to say hi to everyone. I also have a couple topics to talk about myself. I am an avid Redskins fan stuck in Philadelphia, PA. This year, I have been to both home games, not too impressed with the latter. But like all other skin's fans, I have noticed the same thing. First off, we need to put Ramsey in, no doubt, we need to spread the field, not just east/west, but north/south. We need to get the deep ball, and Brunell can not throw it accurately. When that is done, that will open up the field for Portis, and we should see him getting 125+ yards a game. They have one of the most talented all-around offenses in the league, they have the complete package. My biggest problem is, as stated in other posts, the dull offense the skins run. Most of the pass plays are to Coles & Gardner, with a couple to Thrash. Chris Cooley has done nothing but catch what is thrown to him, and after that, plow people over. I think they need to utilize Cooley as the Giants utilize Shockey. Throw him the ball, he catches it when he is open, and even when there are guys hanging onto him. So, change the offense, put Ramsey in, throw to a variety of receivers, this will also make teams LB's cover the TE, rather than blitzing and filling all the gaps. That is it for now, haha. Let's go Skins!!

Welcome to the board JCaptMorgan12 you'll like it here if you ignore the trolls

back on topic I agree with what your saying but Joe Gibbs will stay with Brunell until either the season ends or Mark gets hurt, unless we're lucky

Well, not every Skins fan thinks that Ramsey should be put in. . .

Welcome to the board CaptMorgan, I think that you'll really like it here; and it's always good to have another intelligent fan in on the discussion.

G'day cap'n morgan! welcome to the best skins fan site!

You bring up some interesting points but I think you will see Gibbs stick with Mark because our problems are simply that we are not executing as a team and that needs to be fixed first and then take a look at the individual picture. These coaches see these players and their abilities are utilized accordingly within the team concept. The experience factor is very big with NFL coaches and future greats like Cooley and Taylor have to grow first.

Shockey is 3 years in and at the begining of the season he showed immaturity in explaining how his coach should use him!!! I think Cooley will be a better all round TE than Shockey - but then I might be a little color blind.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Welcome to the board JCaptMorgan12 :D

I completely agree with you about Ramsey. I think Brunell is a good solid QB but he's not the future of the Redskins. This year is basically a rebuilding year for the Skins so why not use your QB of the future and give him the experience he needs. Ramsey played VERY well last year with absolutely NO protection and I think under Gibbs he could easily be a Pro Bowl QB.

Brunell doesn't have the arm or accuracy that Ramsey has but he has experience. You can teach a QB how to read a defense and playing time will give him the experience. It is true that Brunell won the starting job in pre-season fair and square, he easily out played Ramsey, but as I said.... he is not the future. How many more years does he even have? Our only hope now is that Brunell gets injured.... and I don't wish that on anyone.... but I don't think Gibbs will pull him otherwise.

Everyone is quick to point out the interceptions Ramsey threw in the Giants game.... remember he only threw 9 interceptions all of last year while getting pounded and rushed every single play. Ramsey even stated that he just wanted to win the game and tried too hard..... inexperience - which can be fixed.

Just look at all the great QBs throughout history.... most were terrible for years but ended up being one of the greats.

I think we need to put in Ramsey and leave him in no matter what, let him know the job is his..... no pressure.... and I bet you will see the start of a great NFL QB.
