In the browns game...

Post by SkinFan 0-16 or 16-0 »

...I want to see the Clinton Portis have his best game yet. I don't mean by just one yard. I want to see the Heavyweight Championship belt come out.

Remember the last time it came out. I blelieve it was against Kansas City. CP had 5 touchdowns. 218 yards on the ground. And 2 more catches for 36 yards.

Remember this is the same defense that gave up the single game rushing record. who happens to be even weaker with injuries.

IMO expect to see a big day from Climton Portis.

Portis has payback on his mind, too. I hear he may still be pissed at the coach for not drafting him.

Was he (Coach Davis) his (CP) coach at Miami? I think so but I'm not sure... if so than that'll do it

From the Washington Post:

KEY MATCHUPS
Clinton Portis vs. Browns defense
Coach Joe Gibbs admittedly got away from the run more than he would have liked against Dallas, with Portis getting 23 carries. Had Portis carried the ball closer to 30 times perhaps Washington would have won. The Browns are awful against the run -- Baltimore's Jamal Lewis ran for 500 yards in two games against Cleveland last season -- and Portis put up big numbers in his one previous start against the Browns, rushing 38 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns against them last season with Denver. Teams often find a way to break big runs against the Cleveland defense and Portis's speed and acceleration are his biggest assets. The Redskins should start the same offensive line for consecutive weeks -- that would be a first this season -- and it should be a good game to get the ground game churning again.

Also from the Wasington Post:

Portis, Davis Meet Again

Running back Clinton Portis faces his former college coach when the Redskins play at Cleveland tomorrow. Portis had a strained relationship with Browns Coach Butch Davis when the two were at the University of Miami.

Davis, who was coach for Portis's first two years, had a philosophy in which underclassmen waited their turn for playing time. When Portis entered as a freshman in 1999, he was third on the depth chart, with James Jackson as the starter. When Miami's top two tailbacks were injured by the fifth game, Portis received playing time and set a school freshman record with 838 rushing yards.

But Portis and his brash personality didn't exactly endear himself to Davis when during his freshman season Portis declared himself the school's best tailback. The relationship reached a low point when Portis rushed for 137 yards in the first half in one game and Davis replaced him with Jackson in the second half. . . .

Should be a BIG day!!!
